This week’s Global Design Project challenge was a sketch challenge, and I always love seeing how many different interpretations can come from one simple design!

For my card, I used the beautiful Stampin’ Up! Garden Poetry Suite, drawing inspiration from the sketch layout while adding plenty of texture, colour and layered floral details. The sketch featured a central focal panel layered over a background with circular elements, and I immediately saw the opportunity to create something bright and bold using this gorgeous suite.

The background is one of my favourite parts of this card. I embossed a panel using a leafy embossing folder before blending colour over the raised texture to create a soft yet vibrant backdrop. This suite includes a hybrid embossing folder meaning you can cut and emboss at the same time!
I also used one of my favourite techniques of rubbing a Versamark Ink pad lightly over the background and sprinkling embossing powder! Metallic magic!

The combination of warm yellows, oranges and pinks gives the card a cheerful, summery feel while allowing the embossed leaves to remain the star of the background.

Adding texture behind the focal point helped bring extra dimension to the design and echoed the botanical theme of the Garden Poetry Suite beautifully.

To complete the project, I added coordinating stamping and blending inside the card for a polished finish.

I love how this card combines texture, colour and layering while still staying true to the original sketch. Challenges like these are always a fantastic way to stretch creativity and look at products in new ways.
