Hi guys, back again with another Project Life spread from my 2014 album of Elijah. Sadly I didn’t get a process video filmed for this layout as I created it late at night.
This was a harder spread for me to create because it featured a lot of red and I am going to admit right now that I am not the hugest fan of red and I also find it harder to create with. I don’t actually know why. I can deal with small amounts of red but in larger amounts I find it hard to work with.
I chose the red and the blue to work with because of my son’s Mickey Mouse outfit in the top left corner and in the bottom right although they are black and white he is actually wearing a Mickey Mouse hooded towel on his head. So that is where the inspiration came from.
Once again I have used a mixture of brands of cards on the spread from Sunshine (by Elsie & Emma) and cards from Pebbles and Jen Hadfield. I am really enjoying the process of Project Life’ing now that I am not restricted by brands, but instead working with colour.
I didn’t actually have all that many photos for this week either, so I chose to spread them out collectively over the page and balance the design and colour of all the ‘filler’ cards.
This red card is from the gorgeous SUNSHINE kit by Elsie & Emma for Project Life by Becky Higgins. I loved this range with it’s bright colours and bold and funky designs. It was such a bold and bright red to work with that to be honest it was a little intimidating. I paired it with some white, cork and a beautiful die cut from the Amy Tan Stitched collection.
I love how the title card turned out for this week. I believe this is a JEN HADFIELD design from the Project Life by Becky Higgins mini kit. I love the black chevron, it’s gorgeous. If Jen Hadfield does one thing well it’s gorgeous bold but simple designs. I used a colour magic star from Heidi Swapp coloured with some Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers Distress Stain and some flocked red thickers, a cork arrow and some of that gorgeous gold sequin trim that I have been obsessed with.
First of all, I am obsessed with these pictures of my son! I think he looks so cute and the one of him crying to right I LOVE. I hope that is not a bad thing but I feel like it really captures ‘real life’ I mean babies aren’t cute and smiling all the time. Most of the time it’s baby puke, smell nappies and crying. Well not most of the time…but some of the time and those times are worth documenting too!
Finally I will leave you with a picture of my journalling for the week. Once again I have used my typewrite to journal on my card and I am sure that this card is also from the Jen Hadfield collection. I loved the simple design and it was perfect for capturing the week in words. I used a DIY Shop chalkboard tab to repeat the week number up the top. I love the effect of having little bits and bobs sticking out the top of my album. To me it adds a little bit more texture.
I hope you have enjoyed a look at another spread.
Much love,
