Welcome to part ten of the chain card swap series that I am sharing. Did you miss part nine? Head on over here and check it out. I will be sharing eleven posts in this series and today is part ten.
What is a chain card swap? A group of people participate and it is similar to Chinese whispers where each of the participants designed a card which was then sent off to another of the participants which then CASE’d the card and sent it on so that when it gets sent back to the original creator it may look completely different to the original – how fun is that?
Today I am sharing a fun card using the Stampin’ Up! Planted Paradise Stamp Set which is one of our reversible stamp sets. You can see all our current Reversible stamp sets in my store here. If want to see a video from Stampin’ Up! that has some tips & techniques for using Reversible stamps, check it out here! Most of all though I had fun on this card having fun with the Stripes and Splatters 3D Embossing folder adding some dry emboss distressing to my card.
For this tenth blog hop, we are all sharing our cards that we CASE’d for Sharni Green’s card. See below for a list of all the blogs and the beautiful projects where you can hop along and see where the card started and how it progressed as it moved along the chain. It is very cool to see the progression of a card along one of these chain card swap series.

the finished card featuring the planted paradise stamp
Here is a look at my finished card using the Planted Paradise Stamp. When I saw Maheswari’s gorgeous card with all that texture I knew that I wanted to carry that over into my design along with the gorgeous layout that she used. I chose to keep the overall design the same and replicate the idea of using an embossing folder to add texture on the bottom layer of my card. I chose to use the fun Stripes & Splatters Embossing Folder on my card to do some dry emboss distressing.
This is such a fun technique and is so easily achieved by simply adding an embossed design with an embossing folder and then using some light sanding paper to distress the raised design. I was really inspired to try this even more so with the beautiful White Center Specialty Paper as unlike our normal cardstock which is dyed through to the core, this beautiful paper has a white core. When using the dry emboss distressing paper with a white core is gorgeous as distressing it reveals the gorgeous white core.
I had fun with the bright blues & greens on my card for this round with some beautiful touches of gold and browns. You can see my colour inspiration here…

the BEAUTIFUL finished dry emboss distressing up close
Here is a close up look at the finished card and some of the details. The Planted Paradise stamp is actually one of our reversible stamps which I have used in a few of these patterns and leaves, stamping off the base design and ‘flipping’ the stamp to stamp the reverse of the stamp in full strength. I have clustered my leaves and succulents in my pots and used these as the focal point on my card.
To add some extra texture and embellishment I brought in some gold with the More Dazzle Specialty Paper and added some of the gorgeous Wavy Trim which I have separated the threads and used them as a textural elements.
To finish the card I added a sentiment taken from the Notes of Nature stamp and some beautiful Ombre Matte Decorative Dots.
a peek at the inside…
I added a few extra bits to the inside of my card including some more of that White Centre Speciality Paper & More Dazzle Specialty Paper with a couple extra fussy cut leaves from the Planted Paradise Stamp Set.
I had so much fun with this card and I hope that you were able to get some inspiration. Be sure to hop along the blog below to see how the card started and changed during the chain card swap! It is best to start at the first blog and move your way along, so if you have started here you should head to Cheryl’s blog next.
Until next time, stay tuned for part eleven (the final part) of the chain card swap series. As always, happy crafting. xx

Maheswari’s card and yous have both followed the basic layout but added in vibrant colours and move away from the Christmas theme. Both are gorgeous.
