I was so excited and had so much fun creating this fun hidden double flap card on my live video that I created an alternative version with a more masculine spin using the Take to the Sky suite of products from the new Annual Catalogue. I actually gifted this card to my Dad at the beginning of May to celebrate his 70th Birthday.
This fun interactive card is a great design for adding hidden messages/greetings or other memorabilia/photos. If you want to go and check out the first card that I created using the hidden double flap card design, click here.
THE FINISHED HIDDEN DOUBLE FLAP CARD
Here is a look at my finished card design where I have used the colours from the Take to the Sky suite to inspire my design. The beautiful collection of products features so many different textures and patterns that all combine together to create this rustic style suite.
One of my favourite elements of the suite is actually that big plane die that layers together to create a plane that becomes a feature of the project. For my card I combined the layers using Boho Blue and some of the copper textured metallic foil.
I kept to the colour palette that was featured in this Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper which you can see below.

a close up showing all the details
In this picture you can see some of the detail on the hidden double flap card up close. I brought in one of the rectangle shaped dies from the Everyday Details Dies to add into my cluster of layers on the card front. Using the beautiful textured stamp from the Adventurous Sky stamp, I used some tone on tone stamping to add to the detail and add some more texture.
I have used a variety of other elements to add both texture, dimension and embellishment including some of that beautiful Copper Clay Jute Trim and some of the Industrial Trinkets.
the pull out hidden double flap card mechanism
Here is a look at the finished card when opened to reveal the hidden double flap card magic! I have really emphasised the vintage feel on this card by adding extra ink blending around the edges of some of the Designer Series Paper with both Basic Beige and Boho Blue inks. The planes featured on the inside of the card are a mixture of stamped and coloured images and some that have been fussy cut from the matching Designer Series Paper.
SURPRISE – a hidden fun fold out secret
You can see here on the hidden flap piece that I have incorporated even more of the planes which have been fussy cut from the Designer Series Paper and adhered on small layers of Basic Beige cardstock to add room for a greeting/message.
double the fun & a place for a greeting
The final picture of the finished hidden double flap card shows just how much room for additional messages and photos there is once the mechanism is fully opened and revealed.
I hope that you enjoyed seeing this alternative version of the card and have gotten some inspiration to create your own hidden double flap card. I would love to see your project if you decide to make one. Come and join my Stampin’ Up! VIP group (everyone is welcome) and share what you create.
