I have been participating in a chain card swap for the past few months. It’s a fun activity where you make a card and send it along a chain of participants. Each person copies and edits the card before passing it on until it returns to the original sender, often looking quite different.
For round ten (the final round) of this blog hop series, I created a Christmas card using the Seasons of Green and Gold Suite inspired by Cheryl’s card chain and the version of Cheryl’s card created by Genna. I was inspired by Genna’s layout and placement of her focal points and tried my best to recreate this on my card incorporating this beautiful Christmas suite from the Stampin’ Up! Online Exclusives with the Seasons of Green & Gold suite plus using some layered vellum techniques!

One of my favourite things about the Seasons of Green & Gold Suite is the gorgeous dies that go along with the Golden Greenery bundle. If you haven’t seen the dies – you need to go and check them out!
When cut with all the beautiful vellum that goes along with this suite from the Graceful Greenery vellum it looks gorgeous – especially with layered vellum techniques.
I used a mixture of the Graceful Greenery Vellum also mixing in some of the Gold Mercury Vellum which is also one of the new Online Exclusives. Vellum is a great way to add texture and interest to your cards whilst also having the potential to be soft and subtle.
a look at the finished detail and that layered vellum

This close up shows I have really gone to town mixing up the textures of the papers I have used on this card as I have used; Glimmer Paper, Vellum, Designer Series Paper, Cardstock and Foil! There is nothing like adding a bit of everything!
The Designer Series Paper has a really good mixture of gorgeous foiled patterns but also some more subtle designs on the back side which is what I have used here.
You can see in this close up that I have also incorporated some of the beautiful Cherry Cobbler & Pearl embellishments that really do look like holly berries – they are gorgeous! I added in a bit of extra with some Gold Metallic Enamel Effects which when dried look like beautiful gold pearls.
a pretty inside!

I finished my card off with a pretty inside and some more of the glimmer and vellum pieces. A beautiful sentiment from the Greetings of The Season bundle helped to finish my design.
This was a fun card to make and I really enjoyed seeing the progression of the card throughout the chain.
You can see the whole ‘chain’ of card in the series and how the card has evolved below.
I suggest following it in order from number one onwards to see the true progression of the card.
I had so much fun participating in this card chain swap and thanks to all the other members in the chain – I had a blast!
Until next time, crafty hugs. xx

Wow, Kayla, I like your card much more than the one I made to ‘inspire’ you. Love all the layers.
