Welcome to my series of blog posts where I will be sharing some fun cards from a chain card swap series that I took part in recently. I had never participated in anything like this before and it was so much fun.
What is a chain card swap? A group of people participate and it is similar to Chinese whispers where cards get sent around the chain of people and you CASE the card and send it on so that when it gets sent back to the original creator it may look completely different to the original – how fun is that?
For this first blog post share, part one we are all sharing our cards that we CASE’d for Annette McMillan’s card. See below for a list of all the blogs and the beautiful cards where you can hop along and see where the card started and ended. It is very cool to see the progression of a card along one of these chain card swap series.
sharni green’s card that i case’d
Here is a look at Sharni Green’s beautiful card that I CASE’d for my card. Sharni’s card had a beautiful Christmas theme but I decided to stick with CASE’ing the beautiful layout design.
my finished card using the nature’s sweetness suite

Here is a look at my finished card. If you can see the idea behind the thinking of where I got my idea I kept with the main background with a strip going up the left hand side. I loved the gorgeous gold foiled Designer Series Paper in the Nature’s Sweetness Suite and so used this as my whole background adding some light blending with a Blending Brush and some Wild Wheat and Lemon Lime Twist Ink.
The ‘strip’ up the left hand side is cut with some Crumb Cake Cardstock which I have actually die cut with one of the suite’s corresponding dies which has a beautiful notebook style edge, it was perfect for this design. I added a fun vintage style effect by adding some blending along this edge.

a close up look at the finished detail

I added one of those beautiful big leaf/flower images which has been die cut from the Designer Series Paper! No stamping required. I added some colour with a mixture of Wild Wheat and Lemon Lime Twist Inks and added some extra die cut images from the gorgeous coordinating dies.
Some additional embellishments like the Cork Rounds, Natural Sequins and gorgeous Faux Leather Trim really helped to finish this beautiful card.
a pretty inside

I added some detail to the inside of the card with some light blending and some additional stamping which I have added in Gray Granite Ink. The stamps are just gorgeous for collage style stamping. I added some Gold Foil and Wild Wheat Cardstock to really help to finish it off.
I had so much fun CASE’ing what really was a basic layout but a great design!
Be sure to hop along and see the next gorgeous card in the chain card swap – this is really where the magic is and seeing where the design goes next….

You are a crafting QUEEN! Beautiful card and interpretation
You are a queen! Thanks so much for your beautiful comment. xx
Gorgeous card Kayla, love the blending, the layering ‘ and all the little details. Thanks for your kind words about the design. That’s what I was aiming for; basic layout which facilitated design. Really enjoyed seeing the evolution.
Thanks so much Annette. I loved CASE’ing your beautiful card. xx
Wow! You’ve opened my eyes to this suite. Your layering is stunning.
And I love how much work you put into the insides!
Thanks so much Genna. xx
I love to make my insides pretty. No naked insides here 😉 Haha!
I love the earthy tones of your CASE Kayla, so beautiful.
Thanks so much Monique. The earthy tones were a bit unusual for me but it was fun to mix it up and have some fun. x
I love how you’ve kept the basic layout but really made this your own!
Thanks Sharni. I love to CASE a layout design and then add bits of ‘me’. This chain card swap has been so much fun!
