I recently attended the amazing Online Stamping Retreat with the fabulous Kylie & Bruno Bertucci and Lisa Curcio & Gina Hawley. It’s always one of my favourite events!
I am having fun sharing the projects I made over the next couple of weeks! The project I am sharing today is from the lovely Kylie/Bruno class and is called a double swing card! I changed my card up a little and decided to use a Sale-a-Bration Designer Series Paper called Softly Stippled! You only have THREE DAYS left to earn this FREE! It really is a gorgeous paper and so textured. I was pleasantly surprised with how gorgeous it is. I have combined this with the beautiful Thoughtful Expressions Bundle from the Mini Catalogue.
There is another retreat happening in May and I am so excited! You can see all the details and add you name to the waitlist here.

Here is a look at the front of the double swing card all closed and from the front. This really hides the surprise before you open the card but doesn’t it look gorgeous?
I chose to combine the beautiful Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper from Sale-a-Bration with the Thoughtful Expressions Bundle. The combination of Wild Wheat with the beautiful blues and greens with that touch of Calypso Coral is just gorgeous.
I have to admit that Wild Wheat really grew on me in the last six months, I just haven’t been able to stop using it…
Here is a look at the colour palette that I used…

a close up look at the details
I used lots of little details on the front of my card. Something about my style is that I love texture and lots of little details. One thing I will always buy and add to my cart is specialty paper and I have added two different specialty papers to this card! I loved the More Dazzle Paper – if you look back through my recent posts – it’s on every card and I have also used the Pretty Peacock Three Colour Glimmer Specialty Paper from the Online Exclusives. These two look great for little die cuts.
This double swing card is a great design for using Designer Series Paper and letting it shine! We are all about #loveitchopit and using those beautiful paper designs that Stampin’ Up! provides us. I used a light bit of extra Wild Wheat ink with a blending brush around the edges of my paper to add a little bit of extra definition to my papers before adhering it to my design.
The Blooming Pearls were gorgeous to add a finishing touch to the embellishing on the card front.
the magic of the double swing card
When the double swing card is opened out swings the card with not one but two card panels! It is magic! I love this card design! It is a lot easier than it looks!
The hardest part of this card design is cutting all the pieces of Designer Series Paper for all the panels. My tip is using the Take Your Pick Tool with the extra Take Your Pick Crafter Tips which includes a hobby blade perfect for cutting a little extra off if needed from the edges.
I decorated my middle panels where there is room for writing with some extra die cuts and die cut details. To colour the flowers decorating these panels I have used my Calypso Coral, Wild Wheat and Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Blends. I love that these pieces have coordinating dies so no fussy cutting required!
P.s. I added some extra definition to these panels with some Smoky Slate Ink and Wild Wheat Ink with a Blending Brush. I love a bit of texture and grunge.
the swing component
Check out that swing of the double swing card – isn’t it cool? This is where that hobby blade is handy. If you find that it is catching a little bit too much – cut a ‘TINY’ bit off with your hobby blade and a metal edge ruler and it’s so handy. This fun fold is so FUN!
a close up of the swinging effect at the front
One last look at this double swing card and that gorgeous hummingbird. That little guy is one of my favourites! I coloured him in Pool Party, Wild Wheat and Lost Lagoon. The combination of colours turned out great together.
I have still got one of these double swing cards to make for Bruno Bertucci’s fabulous version of this card – and his version is amazing! I can’t wait to replicate it! Coming soon!
Don’t forget to put your name on the waitlist/reminder list for May! You won’t regret it!
Until my next crafty post, big crafty hugs! xx
