Welcome to part eleven of the chain card swap series that I am sharing. Did you miss part ten? Head on over here and check it out. I will be sharing eleven posts in this series and today is part eleven so today is the last and final part in the series. Hop back along the posts by click above and clicking back through the links.
What is a chain card swap? A group of people participate and it is similar to Chinese whispers where each of the participants designed a card which was then sent off to another of the participants which then CASE’d the card and sent it on so that when it gets sent back to the original creator it may look completely different to the original – how fun is that?
Today I am sharing a fun card using the Stampin’ Up! Stargazing Suite which was one of my favourite suites from the current Annual Catalogue and it will be retiring at the end of the month you can check it out in my store here (I believe that the bundle is now sold out but the gorgeous Designer Series Paper that I have used and the Holographic Foil is still available). Today I am sharing a fun gate fold that I created with it.
For this eleventh and final blog hop, we are all sharing our cards that we CASE’d for Tracy Held’s card. See below for a list of all the blogs and the beautiful projects where you can hop along and see where the card started and how it progressed as it moved along the chain. It is very cool to see the progression of a card along one of these chain card swap series.

my finished stargazing themed gate fold card
Here is a look at my finished gate fold card. I loved creating this. When I received Nancy’s card and saw how she had used the Nested Essentials Dies to create that fun idea for a gate fold that opened up to reveal a two part sentiment, I was so enamoured with the idea of recreating the gate fold using the Stargazing Suite and the fun sentiments that were in the Reach For The Stars bundle.
The Stargazing Suite is also one of my favourites from this past year’s Annual Catalogue because of the bold and bright colours and the mix of Berry Burst in with the blue/green & orange. What a fun colour combination…

an up close look at the gate fold details
The beautiful Stargazing Designer Series Paper features these gorgeous galactic themes that make for a perfect teenager/boy or just space lover card!
I created my card with a mixture of circles to make a variety of planets. For some of the planets I have added stamped images on cardstock and for some I have die cut them from the beautiful Holographic Foil and added embossed features using the included dies from the bundle.
Some subtle embellishing with some More Dazzle Specialty paper with some die cut stars and some Ombre Matte Decorative Dots was all this card needed.
a cute sentiment makes a card!
Here is what inspired me to choose this whole suite for this card! That sentiment is adorable! It reminds me of something I would say to my ten year old son! Opening this card and then seeing these words is like reading a story!
You could recreate this gate fold using any mixture of shapes as long as you use the same size on this first layer of the gate fold and the middle of the gate fold to ensure that you do not have any uneven layers OR the middle could be slightly larger but the same shape and provide the illusion of a nested shape.
I loved the boldness of the sentiment heat embossed in white on some Basic Black cardstock to really make an impact and be the “star of the show”.
when the gate fold opens…
Here is a look at the final opened gate fold where you get the “whole story”. I used a beautiful mixture of the Designer Series Paper, Holographic Foil and some blending in the Blueberry Bushel to really make the inside a beautiful collection of colours and textures. The astronaut stamped in some Lemon Lime Twist really finished the inside layer both in theme and colour. I added a tiny touch of the stamped stars and some die cut silver stars for a bit of shimmer and shine.
I had a load of fun playing with this Stargazing Suite to make a gate fold card and I hope that you were able to get some inspiration from what I shared. Be sure to hop along the blogs below to see how the card started and changed during the chain card swap! It is best to start at the first blog and move your way along, so if you have started here, head back and start at Tracy’s blog first.
