Last weekend I made one of these Mountain Fun Fold Card designs on my weekly Facebook Live. It was a hit and a I loved making it. I actually changed it up and made it in both metric and imperial measurements and so naturally I made two! One has to check that the measurements work after all. As well as using the Full of Life suite on the other card which you can see here, I also made a version with the gorgeous Thoughtful Journey suite. This worked perfectly as this style of fold really works to show of Designer Series Paper and especially great for keeping some of those bigger scenic style patterns together in one piece.
Today I am sharing the second alternate version I made (well in fact this was the first I made of this design) but not the one I shared in my live video. If you want the directions of how to make this card, scroll to the bottom of this post where there is a free downloadable PDF.
the finished mountain fun fold card
Here is a look at the finished card. I loved using these gorgeous designs from the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper in fact I love all the patterns so much that it was hard to choose! In the end I decided to go wth a main colour palette of Petunia Pop, Wild Wheat, Pretty Peacock with a touch of Blackberry Bliss which helped me choose some of my patterned designs and elements.
a close up of the detail on the front
This up close image shows some of the texture and detail that I incorporated into decorating my card front. I used some of the gorgeous Pretty Peacock Glimmer Paper from the Online Exclusives to add some dic cuts that really stood out as a feature.
I stamped the beautiful images from the stamp set in Versamark and heat embossed them in gold. This allowed me a good base to add some watercolour. I love using heat embossing when I am watercoloring as it provides a bit of a ‘wall’ to stop that colour bleeding out of the image. To finish the card front I decorated with some sequins, pearls and some Linen Thread.
the mountain fun fold card panels
When you open this Mountain Fun Fold Card up I added the four panels with the gorgeous Thoughtful Designs Speciality Paper. This stuff is STUNNING and has an ombre feature with some light silver style foiling. It comes in several colours that match the Thoughtful Journey suite and once you start using this beautiful paper, you won’t be able to stop.

Here is a close up look at that gorgeous foiled paper. You can see the light hitting the paper and how gorgeous it is.
I have kept the embellishing on the inside to a minimum and as flat as possible since this card is already quite bulky. For this the sequins and Brushed Brass butterflies were perfect.
let’s look at how the mountain fun fold card works
Here is a look at how the Mountain Fun Fold Card works. You simply pull on those tabs which activates a mechanism to create these ‘mountains’ and reveal the inside centre panel.
It is such a fun design.
I used the that gorgeous Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper again and opted for one of the more scenic style patterns. This fun fold design allows you to keep the 6×6″ pattern quite whole which is perfect for those patterns that you want to use larger pieces of, like these ones.
a close up of the CENTRE panel
This shows some of the detail on that centre panel which I kept quite minimal due to wanting to make that stunning paper a feature. I added some more watercolored images and some sequins and butterflies while adding a small sentiment strip. The images and sentiments in the Thoughtful Wishes bundle are just gorgeous!
I hope that you will give one of these Mountain Fun Fold Card designs a go as they are a lot of fun to make and would be a great special card to give to somebody. This card will need a handmade envelope due to its size however I use Jacque William’s fantastic handmade envelope tutorial which is super easy! You can see her video on how to make envelopes here.
