I have to apologise for missing my first weekly live for the year but I haven’t had such bad sunburn since I was a child! Ouch – plenty of aloe vera gel has been used in this household in the last week!
I am back this week however to share a really whimsy and fun card featuring a Slide and Lock card using the brand new Darling Dinos bundle from the new Mini Catalogue.
When I first saw this bundle I was in love. The cute-ness of these dinos is just too irresistible. I can see myself using them loads. For this card have combined these fun dinos with the fun irregular shaped circles from the Around it All Dies which are a brand new Online Exclusive released alongside the Mini Catalogue.
I had a lot of fun creating this Slide and Lock card this week and hope that you enjoyed the project. Be sure to scroll to the bottom where you can download the Free PDF & video class.
the finished slide and lock card

Here is a look at the finished card in all it’s bright & fun style! It’s no secret that I love a bit of green and I went crazy with the bright greens on this card.
Here is a look at my colour inspiration
The slide and lock mechanism is really easy by simply choosing a ‘shape’ and cutting two and adhering them together (I have used Foam Adhesive Strips) only in the centre section. This allows them to ‘move’ down the track. To achieve this I have cut my card base allowing for a space to track down the centre.
a look at how the slide and lock mechanism works

Here is a close up look at the finished card where you can see how the slide and lock mechanism quite literally ‘slides’ off. I have created a real feature on my card front by adding some embossing using the Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder. This embossing folder worked really well as the circles repeat in a circular fashion and draw your eye in to that irregular circle shape that holds the focal point.
I have added some light colour blending with Shy Shamrock Ink on the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock for a fun look.
a look at the inside – surprise

When you open the gatefold design I have added some more elements to the inside of the card including an additional dino placed on top of some purple blending and a simple stamped sentiment.
I had so much fun making this Slide and Lock card this week and I hope that you enjoyed seeing this project. Be sure to check out all the resources including PDF and the video tutorial below.
