Happy Monday everyone! I am excited for another Global Design Project challenge and this week is a special one! It is the 400th challenge! Can you believe the GPD challenge blog has been around for that long. The challenge blog was founded by two very talented ladies that I am lucky to call friends and so the challenge this week is a special one – to CASE card but either or/both of these ladies!
Here is a look at this week’s amazing challenge…
You can go and check it out on the GDP challenge blog and join in the challenge & or check out of the rest of the teams amazing projects over HERE.
Here is a look at my finished card. I actually decided to CASE both Kylie & Louise and have taken elements from both cards. I loved the idea of using the Sweet Citrus bundle and the Radiating Stitches dies that Kylie had used as my main elements and having them as the main focal point so that is where I started.
The elements that I decided to CASE from Louise’s card was her use of the soft pinks and having a pink toned background and also adding the greens (which I have used here in the leaves) but also how she stamped the sentiment in brown (which I have here in Pecan Pie – I LOVE that colour) on Crumb Cake cardstock. I loved this idea and it is not something I would usually do with a sentiment, as I am a bit hooked on heat embossing sentiments in white on Basic Black cardstock.
I loved CASE’ing different elements from two cards and making them work on one card.
Here is a close up look at the finished card.
I have embellished with some of the Loose Frosted Dots from the Online Exclusives which is where the Irresistible Blooms paper is from. I have added a small accent of the gold More Dazzle paper which I am loving right now and I am sure that I will need to order another new pack of that soon as it is getting used rather quickly!
I saw a card featured online maybe a week ago – I should have noted where, oops! They used the Sweet Citrus stamp set and made some Oranges and to make them look nice and ‘juicy’ used some Fine Tip Glue to add ‘water drops’ so that is what I have done here and love the look that it gives. It just takes a little while to dry.
To make my grapefruit – at least that is the look I was going for, I have stamped the inside with a mixture of Calypso Coral and Sweet Sorbet. I find that stamping with the lighter colour first and then going back in and adding the darker colour to the stamp with parts of the stamp with a Blending Brush is the easiest way to get a two toned look when stamping. This technique is easiest with Stamp Positioning Tool.
I have stamped the outside of my fruit with a combination of Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie and my leaves are stamped with Parakeet Party and Lemon Lime Twist.
To add some further definition to the solid fruit and the leaves I have also adding some further blending with a Pumpkin Pie and Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Blend.
My little flowers I stamped with Sweet Sorbet ink but have slightly coloured with a mildly damp Water Painter to achieve a fun look.
Here is a look at the inside of my card where I have added some more Designer Series Paper and a strip of that fun More Dazzle Speciality Paper, an extra sentiment and some left over leaves and a flower from the card front.
P.s. I love to spritz coordinating colours from my Stampin’ Write markers to my layers of cardstock.
I find it easiest to use the markers from than the Stampin’ Blends – but this can be achieved with either.
I hope that you got some inspiration from my card that I have shared today.
Be sure to go and check out the GDP challenge blog this week and the other amazing projects and join in the GDP challenge, it’s a great one this week!
I have linked all the supplies that I have used in my project below, which are all available in my store here.
Until next time, crafty hugs, xx
