Under my Umbrella ~ Friendship Card

I hope wherever you are in the world you are having a lovely week and getting ready for the fabulous festive season!

Today I wanted to come and share a card I made recently using one of the brand new upcoming bundles from the new Mini Catalogue…Under my Umbrella.

I fell in love with this stamp set as soon as I saw it in the new catalogue and knew that I had to have it straight away.

I just loved the sentiments and those fun umbrellas that could be used in so many ways!

I have many plans with this stamp set, and can’t wait to share them with you all.

For this card I was really inspired to create a background of ‘rain’ ‘water’ and had so much fun using a mixture of Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana inks with my Aqua Painter to achieve this on our super fabulous Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper. Have I mentioned I love that stuff?

Here is the finished card that I created…

To create watercolour effects like this, I simply squeeze my Aqua Painter and brush it over only the sections that I want the colour to appear. I then use either my ink pad (by squeezing some ink into the lid of the pad by pressing it together, or place some ink refill into one of my ink lids) and then I drip it onto the card. The more ink you use, the deeper the colour will be.

I usually use a mix of colours and here I have used Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana. The ink combinations is completely up to you, but you may want to test them out of a scrap first, in case you are not sure how they will mix.

I then dried my piece with my heat gun, as I really like the look of it heated as you get some more ‘harsh’ lines. You can let it dry naturally if you prefer a softer look.

After the piece was dry, I have stamped my rain drops with Bermuda Bay ink over the top. You want to make sure the piece is dry when you do this step, otherwise they will bleed!

I have then mounted this piece onto some Basic Black Cardstock and then some Shimmer Paper for some glitz and glam!

I have then stamped my umbrella with Granny Apple Green ink onto Granny Apple Green cardstock. I love the tone on tone look, and it is something that I reach for quite frequently.

I have stamped some of the flowers from the stamp set in Memento Ink and coloured them with some Lovely Lipstick and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends with a touch of Pineapple Punch in the centre.

I also stamped an umbrella stick with Basic Gray on Basic Gray cardstock.

The lovely coordinating punch is so handy as I was able to quickly punch out my umbrella and umbrella handle.

I finished off embellishing with some Linen Thread, some Gingham Gala Sequins (with a Basic Rhinestone in the middle) and one of the gorgeous butterflies from the Butterfly Duet Punch from Shimmer Card with a Glitter Enamel Dot in the centre.

I couldn’t put that much work into a card without of course decorating the inside, so I added a fun sentiment in Daffodil Delight and the stamped flowers replicated from the front of the card.
