I love a project that gives me an excuse to pull out all those little treasures hiding in my craft room… and this handmade mini album definitely did that!

This album was a special custom project I created for someone who wanted a handmade album for their daughter’s upcoming birthday. I made the entire album from scratch — from the cover and pages right through to all the little decorative details.
And honestly… this was SO much fun to make!

Using What You Have

The starting point for this project was the Beautiful Ordinary Life Suite Collection and Scrapbooking Workshop Kit, but rather than sticking only to the current products, I decided to dive into my stash and bring in lots of retired products that worked with my colour palette.

I worked with a colour combination: Pool Party • Real Red • Lemon Lolly • Flirty Flamingo • Petal Pink • Timid Tiger • Pretty Peacock • Lost Lagoon (these colours were taken directly from the colour palette of the papers included in the Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper)

I mixed papers, embellishments, die cuts, stickers and other bits and pieces from my stash to create all the different pages. This is something I really love about scrapbooking — you don’t need the latest collection to create something beautiful. Sometimes those older products sitting in your craft room are exactly what you need!

A Mini Album for Memories

I designed this album with plenty of space for photos, journaling and little memories, with lots of interactive elements and pockets throughout.

There are spaces for different photo sizes, journaling cards and little tags, making it something that can be personalised with all those special memories.
I also love that a project like this can be completely customised for the person receiving it. You can change the colours, theme, photographs and decorations to make it truly unique.

Don’t Forget Your Stash!

If you have a drawer, cupboard or shelf full of retired Designer Series Paper, embellishments and embellishment packs that you just can’t bear to part with… this is your sign to pull them out!

Scrapbooking is such a great way to use those products that may no longer be current but still coordinate beautifully with the rest of your supplies. You don’t have to wait for a new collection to arrive before you start creating. Sometimes the best projects come from mixing the old with the new and making your stash work for you.

I’ve had so much fun creating this album that I’m hoping to work on a mini album class for The Stamping Lounge in the future!
