I’ve been in my magical crafting space this weekend creating up a storm and had fun creating for this week’s GDP challenge and what a fantastic challenge it is, CASE’ing the lovely Wilma and her beautiful card. I had fun creating a more feminine style card in more natural tones this week which is quite a different approach for me since I normally gravitate towards the brights. Playing with the earth tones was quite a nice change and it is always fun to shake things up from time to time because it can be quite a nice creative refresh!

A look at the challenge for the week to CASE the lovely Wilma De Korte. Her card was a great starting point to make a lovely project! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

the finished card – a fun card in natural tones
Here is a look at my finished card. Using natural tones, I love how it came out. I actually laid out quite a few different coloured backgrounds on my desk to start and as you would expect the others were quite bright! This card was the odd one out of the bunch and I am glad that I picked it!
These backgrounds came from my day playing around with alcohol ink backgrounds. If you would like to know how to create these, I made a whole blog post featuring these technique.

As I had used the natural tones as my starting point for the colours I decided to stick with that and use a card base of Pecan Pie. I added some extra colour to this by swiping a Pecan Pie ink pad across my card base. I did add a little too much and it did bleed a little (whoopsie) but there is no mistakes in card making and I believe it just adds to the vintage look. Haha!

a close up look at the finished detail
Here is a look at the finished card and some of that detail. I did decided to spritz the card but word of warning/caution: this is going over vellum which is not porous – you will have to either sit this aside to dry or quickly touch it with a heat gun (and not for long because it will bubble as it is on top of an adhesive sheet)
My little cluster of foliage that I used as inspiration from the original card from Wilma was taken from the Textured Foliage dies which was where the whole inspiration came from to use that bundle – I knew I wanted to use those dies! I chose to cut some from; Pecan Pie cardstock, Copper Clay Luster Specialty Paper and some of the gorgeous gold More Dazzle Specialty Paper (that belongs on every card!…seriously!)
I just had to add some of that beautiful frayed natural ribbon — another obsession lately and to finish I added some of the beautiful Brushed Brass Butterflies and some Neutrals Adhesive Backed Sequins.
A look at the beautiful inside…
I went a little O.T.T (over the top) with the inside of this card which is a little unlike me but I don’t usually add this much but I was having so much fun!
I added some more die cuts in the Luster Specialty Paper in Copper Clay and More Dazzle Specialty Paper and also added some strips of the same Specialty Papers to the bottom edge of the Basic White Thick Cardstock.
Before adding these I added a little bit of blending with some Copper Clay Ink to the bottom right hand corner and some spritzing with a Copper Clay Stampin’ Write Marker. This really helped to pull in those natural tones. It looks so warm and inviting. This card is warm and fuzzy in feeling!
I added another second part to the sentiment and it was done.
I hope that you got some inspiration from my project share today!
