Last night I went live on my weekly Facebook Live and created something a little bit different – well shared what inspired the card that was a little different – a scrapbook page! Let me tell you – it has been a hot minute since I have scrapbooked and I had so much fun!! When I finished creating I realised how much I loved using the Frames & Flowers Designer Series Paper and how easy it was with paper and die cut designs that matched. It inspired me to make this week’s Curtain Fold Card project. I had so much fun sharing it with you all.
If you want the directions of how to make this card, scroll to the bottom of this post where there is a free downloadable PDF.
the finished curtain fold card

Here is a look at the finished curtain fold card. This style of card is also known as a drapery fold card but they are the same thing. Essentially you can make this with whatever size/spaced folds as you like. It took me a bit to work out where I wanted them and how big but I loved how it turned out and have shared my measurements & template in the included PDF.
Going for lots of texture was a part of my plan when creating this card from the inspiration I had from creating the scrapbook page. I decided to transfer this to the card with the dimensional pleats, dry embossing and the beautiful hand stitching.
how the curtain fold pleats add dimension

Here is a close up look at the finished card. There is lots of clustering of die cuts & embellishments on this card but that is quite a common style for me.
I loved bringing over the frayed ribbon to create that beautiful bunch of loose threads. Being that it is in a neutral colour it is a lot of texture/fun but still a subtle touch.
a little peek at the pretty inside…

I could not create a card without the obligatory decorated inside to match so I have added some soft blending in Pretty Peacock with some leftover designer paper scraps and a beautiful coordinating die cut. You will see on the video (linked in the PDF) that I even made matching envelopes.
the scrapbook page that inspired the curtain fold card

Here is a look at the scrapbook page that I made that inspired the curtain fold card. I used quite a mix of products on this page including the Frames & Flowers Designer Series Paper.
For the title I used some Foam Adhesive Sheets with the Mini Alphabet Dies with some Gray Granite Cardstock to create these three dimensional letters. I added a bit of Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends to the bottom to create an ombre look.
Additionally I have used the Keeping Tabs bundle to add a fun tab on the larger photo. This bundle is fantastic to use in scrapbooking. I have combined it with the Love This Moment stamp to add ‘this moment’ which is great to capture the essence of these photos of my son and I. I added some additional stamping with this stamp on the right hand side of this page with a tone on tone look for a subtle touch.
close ups of the detail on the scrapbook page

These close ups show some of the detail on this page. I loved tearing the Frames & Flowers Designer Series Paper for a really distressed vibe. I also added a bit of the new Graceful Greenery Vellum in the plain white design and the Wood Textured Specialty Paper. Adding different textures from the vellum and wood grain texture helped to add a bit ‘more’ interest and texture to the page.
a layout sketch – a road map to creativity

Starting your creativity from a sketch provides a clear roadmap. It gives you a vision and a strong foundation to build upon. When I’m lacking ‘mojo’ and need a boost, having a color combo or a basic sketch for a design always helps. Today, I created a basic sketch from my layout design to inspire and guide you—feel free to use it.
