I was so excited to finally complete one of the remaining cards (I only have one more to go) from the Online Stamping Retreat that I attended back in October last year. This card was half done and it has been sitting in my craft space needing some love. I had the perfect project for it this weekend. This gorgeous Dual Pop Up Card I have to say was probably my FAVOURITE fold from the Online Stamping Retreat – so yes I am saving the best for last — and I hope you are prepared because I have made this fold FOUR times – so I have four of the Dual Pop Up Card designs to share with you this week.
Speaking of Online Stamping Retreat — registration is finally open for the 2024 Session One Retreat!! I have my ticket and I am ready to go! I am so very excited and can’t wait. You can book your place here.
the finished dual pop up card
Here is a look at the finished Dual Pop Up Card. To be honest you can’t tell how amazing this card is from the outside – the fun happens on the inside!
However I do love this Designer Series Paper – isn’t that galaxy cool? I chose to go to town using the beautiful Holographic Specialty Paper on this fun fold and stamped the astronaut using Staz On Ink directly onto the piece of Holographic Paper. This makes for a pretty cool shiny finish on the astronaut.
I used the Holographic Specialty Paper to die cut the planets and planet rings and used a Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker to colour some of the Silver coloured Holographic Foil to die cut some of the stars. This gave a nice warm twinkle in the sky.

Here is a close up detailed look at some of the embellishments I added to the card front. I chose to use some Basic Rhinestones and a couple of the Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems.
For the sentiment I used one of the gorgeous quotes from the Reach For The Stars stamp set and heat embossed it in white before trimming the individual lines out and adhering them to the card front.
a look at the dual pop up card mechanism
Here is a look at the card when you open it! This is the magic behind the Dual Pop Up Card. It is like a magic scene opening up before your eyes! The double doors open before you! The cool thing about this fold also is that you can really feature some of the beautiful Designer Series Paper and this Stargazing Designer Series Paper is definitely a design that is worthy of being made a centrepiece.
Kylie and Bruno taught this card at the Online Stamping Retreat and I love how easy it was to learn how to make. Bruno is a mastermind when it comes to providing his diagrams and templates! I would never have attempted a card like this before!!

I love the sentiments that come with the Reach For the Stars Stamp Set and on this card I used every single sentiment!! That must be some kind of new record! On the right hand panel of double door I added a “Reach For The Stars” sentiment framed in a circle which I have die cut from the coordinating dies included in the Reach For The Stars Bundle.
I use some of the extra stars I had die cut and had left over the card front.
a look at the whole inside card reveal
I just love the magic of this card and how it looks when you open it up. It’s like the great reveal! The middle space of the Dual Pop Up Card reveals a space where you can add your greetings and I added the other sentiment that was included – “You’re Stellar” which I thought was pretty cute!
a close up of more of the details
The last bit of embellishing for the card I added was the rocket ship which I actually heat embossed on the Holographic Foil also, but this time in white embossing. It turned out pretty cool! I added some fire coming out the back and it made for a pretty darn cool rocket. Some leftover stars from the card front and the last sentiment and the card was done.
I think I have a new favourite fun fold. This card does turn out to be 5×7″ in size, so you do need to make a custom size envelope as it will not fit into a standard size envelope. If you have the old envelope punch boards that we used to stock this will work well OR I found this video by the lovely Jacque Williams from Stampin’ Up! explaining how to make custom envelopes in any size super helpful.
Stay tuned as I will be sharing my other versions of this card.
