I have been participating in a chain card swap for the past few months. It’s a fun activity where you make a card and send it along a chain of participants. Each person copies and edits the card before passing it on until it returns to the original sender, often looking quite different.
For round four of this blog hop series, I created a Flowering Zinnias card inspired by Nancy’s card chain and the version of Nancy’s card created by Carolina. The Flowering Zinnias suite remains a favourite of mine from the online exclusives collection.
my finished flowering zinnias card

I have to admit that I am not a pink/purple person but it was fun to let my ‘inner girly’ out on this card with some beautiful and bold girly colours. Highland Heather is never a colour that I gravitate towards but sometimes I actually enjoy being inspired by colours that I don’t use often from the Designer Series Paper. The Flowering Zinnias Designer Series Paper is one of my current favourites in the whole Stampin’ Up! product catalogue!
I chose to keep the basic layout of the card the same with the layered pieces and card orientation but just add some of my usual ‘Kayla touches’ with sparkle, glimmer and layering!
a close up look at the detail

The Simply Zinnia bundle creates these stunning layered Zinnias that are so easy to create with just a few die cut pieces. I added some texture and dimension to these by using some ink blending around the outside edges of the petals.
I added an extra bit of texture by die cutting my rectangle layer from the Everyday Details Dies and adding a hand stitched edge with some Baker’s Twine.
a little look at the inside

I added another of the die cut Zinnias and some coordinating colours and a touch of glimmer to complete the inside of my card.
This was a fun card to make and I really enjoyed seeing the progression of the card throughout the chain.
You can see the whole ‘chain’ of cards in the series and how the card has evolved below.
I suggest following it in order from number one onwards to see the true progression of the card.
Until next time, crafty hugs. xx

Your ‘Kayla touches” are all over this gorgeous card.. Love it!
Beautiful. You always amaze me with how you can use so much ‘distressing’ and yet your finished project looks anything but distressed! You have such a unique style.
So pretty! It’s fun to see the layout “blinged out” from my cleaner, simpler one.
OOOOOoooo the textured paper almost looks like handmade paper!
