One of my favourite things about attending online crafting events is learning new card folds and creative techniques from other talented paper crafters. This Folding Diamond Pop-Up Card was a project I created during the Online Stamping Retreat in a class taught by the wonderful Gina Hawley.

This card design is such a fun and interactive fold. When the card is opened, the centre section reveals a beautiful dimensional diamond structure that pops forward, creating a really striking display.

For my version of this project I used products from the Stampin’ Up! Florals in Bloom Suite, which is full of gorgeous florals, coordinating dies and patterned paper that make it easy to create layered designs. You can see all the links to the products I have used at the bottom of this post.

What makes this card really special is the floating diamond structure inside the card. The folded diamond panels create a sculptural element that sits between the front and back of the card, giving it lots of movement and dimension.

When the card is closed it looks elegant and compact, but when opened it expands to reveal the decorative panels and layered floral focal point.
These types of fun folds are perfect when you want to create a card that feels a little more special than a traditional layout.

a closer look

The Florals in Bloom Suite was the perfect choice for this card. The floral images layer beautifully with the coordinating dies, making it easy to build a dimensional bouquet for the front of the card.

For the main focal point I created a layered floral arrangement and added the “hello lovely” sentiment to tie everything together. The mix of flowers, foliage and delicate textures adds lots of interest while still keeping the design balanced.

The patterned papers from the suite also add a lovely pop of colour inside the diamond panels.

This project was created during a class at the Online Stamping Retreat, which is always such a fun and inspiring event filled with creative ideas.

I love how events like this introduce new card folds and techniques that can be adapted again and again with different products and colour combinations.

This Folding Diamond Pop-Up Card is definitely a design I’ll be revisiting in future projects!
