This week’s Global Design Project challenge was themed around landscapes — and I instantly knew I wanted to create something inspired by the ocean at sunset.
The new Scenic Coast Suite from Stampin’ Up! was absolutely perfect for this challenge, especially the stunning Designer Series Paper with its vibrant sunset colours and beautiful iridescent shine.

Handmade nautical card created with the Stampin’ Up! Scenic Coast Suite featuring a colourful ocean sunset scene, layered sailboat silhouette, flying seabirds, textured seaside embellishments, and detailed ink-blended water effects.

I wanted the gorgeous paper to be the hero of the project, so I kept the overall design fairly clean while adding layered coastal details to build texture and dimension.

For the focal point, I layered:

a die cut sailboat
netting details
seashells and starfish
seagull silhouettes
linen thread loops

The black die cut elements really pop against the bright sunset sky and deep ocean colours.

One of my favourite parts of this card is the shimmer and movement throughout the design. The iridescent finish on the paper catches the light beautifully and gives the ocean scene such a magical feel.
I also added white splatter across the card front to mimic sea spray and add extra texture.

Finishing Touches

The sentiment “Wherever this note finds you…” worked perfectly with the coastal theme and ties the whole card together beautifully.
Inside the card, I carried through the coastal elements with more netting, shells and subtle splatter for a cohesive finish.
