Hi there all and I hope you are having a Happy Weekend wherever you are.
I am a stay at home Mum to a 3 year old (Elijah) so to be honest my days and my weekends tend to roll into each other *wink* but I do love weekends because it means I get to see all my family!
I thought I would pop by the blog and share my latest creation with you all which was inspired by a new little man in my life.
My best friend had her baby this week, a gorgeous little boy called Declan!
I am so excited for her as she enters the journey of parent hood and all the fun it will be, plus it’s really excited to share the journey of parent hood with one of my friends finally!
Here’s a picture of me with little Declan.
Isn’t he just the cutest little bundle?
He was only 7pounds 10ounces which to me is TINY since my bubba was 9pound10ounces!!!
Haha!
I just knew that I had to make a special card for him (with some loving words in it for the new parents). I think it is really special to receive nice cards when a new baby is born because they are like a keepsake. My best friend is a memory keeper like me and will be popping these in his baby album. I am so excited to get creative with her when she settles into motherhood a bit.
I have to admit this card was totally taken from a design by Rochelle Blok.
She is one of the Artisan team members.
I had one of those days where I was feeling rather blah due to an injured back and living off some heavy painkillers so I was lacking inspiration and this card had stuck out at me for a while. Thank Rochelle for being the best inspiration!
I did have to pull out some Gold Heidi Swapp Colour Shine from my scrapbooking stash as I do not yet have a gold Wink of Stella (believe me…it’s on my wish list!!) I do love the way it turned out still! I think the White Shimmery Card Stock is really important for this card as it gives that background shimmer and also helps withstand the watercoloring from the Moon Baby stamp.
Here’s a close up of the card. I love the crisp white embossing on the black card.
It’s really important to invest in something like an embossing buddy or some talcum powder to make sure you don’t get any static when you are embossing, it shows up particularly well on black card stock!
The special card wouldn’t be complete without a personalised envelope.
I was thinking back to a live video that I watched on Facebook by Carolyn Bennie the other day talking about how we spend so much time making a card to put it in a plain envelope.
So I set to work making it pretty. I probably went a little bit overboard, but I really like the end result.
The labeller alphabet worked really well to spell out their names and I used the matching Moon Baby stamp set with some of the other images in the set to tie the envelope into the card.
I have also used some of the carried away paper that matches the card on the envelope flap.
All in all, I love how it turned out!
Thanks for reading my blog once again. I hope you have found some inspiration today.
I would love to hear from you, so please leave me a hello ๐
