This week’s challenge over at the Global Design Project was a fun sketch challenge—and I absolutely loved creating with this one!
The sketch featured a large circle element layered behind a horizontal banner, which gave me the perfect starting point for building lots of texture and dimension.

For my card, I pulled out the gorgeous Homemade Sweetness Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! and created a bright, fruity friendship card full of colour and layers.

One of my favourite things about this paper pack is all the adorable fruit imagery throughout the designs.
I spent some time fussy cutting:

• strawberries
• cherries
• citrus slices
• blueberries
• little jars and sweet accents

…and layered them together to create a clustered focal point in the centre of the card.
The mix of colours against the darker background really makes everything pop!

Inspired by the Sketch

To follow the sketch layout, I used:

• a layered scalloped circle element
• a horizontal sentiment strip across the centre
• dimensional embellishments and ribbon for added texture

I love how sketches can spark creativity while still allowing you to completely make the design your own.
The sentiment comes from the Words of Beauty Bundle, and honestly… I’m obsessed with this bold die-cut word.
The large “because” paired with the smaller stamped greeting creates such a fun modern focal point and works perfectly layered across the fruit cluster.

This sketch was such a fun one to interpret, and I’m really happy with how this bright fruity card turned out.
