Happy Friday lovely people! Welcome to another TGIF Friday and fun challenge. This week it is a fun sketch challenge and I have flipped it! What does that mean? I literally did just that, flipped the sketch! Sketches don’t have to be followed just as they are, I flipped this one to portrait and followed it that way. I decided to be dangerous and break out a stamp I hadn’t used yet and try some fun Ombre stamping for this card, this technique is super fun to play with and brings out some gorgeous effects. It is easiest to use a stamping platform for this technique however you could achieve a similar look by using a stamp block and ink.

Here is a look at this week’s sketch challenge. You can see here the actual sketch is quite basic and creates a great base for a card. I can’t wait to see what everyone creates.

the finished card using the ombre stamping technique
Here is a look at the finished card where you can see the basis of the card sketch come together in the portrait style. I really enjoyed adding some texture to my background and so pulled out the beautiful 3D Fern Embossing Folder and added this to my Night of Navy cardstock. I love the extra texture it adds even if it is tone on tone cardstock.
The beautiful new Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper was the perfect combination of colours to use with this card and set the tone with the gorgeous hummingbirds from the stamp set, which I toned down with some of the striped style pattern from the Vellum Basics Speciality Paper.
the colours that inspired my card
close up of the finished card & look at the ombre stamping finish
Here is a close up of some of the finished detail and you can see the Ombre stamping up close. You can definitely see the three tones of blues in their variations here. I have used; Night of Navy, Starry Sky and Blueberry Bushel inks to create my blues.
This is really easy to achieve by placing the stamp on a stamping platform and inking up a third of the stamp each time in each colour and moving your way up the stamp. For the middle section, ink the middle up with a Blending Brush.
For the last section in the lightest colour, I just inked up the whole stamp as it will not effect the stamped image being inked over in the lighter colour.
Lastly I embellished my card with the Starry Sky Metallic Woven Ribbon which I looped behind my focal image, using some Tear N’ Tape to help hold it in place and then added some Neutrals Adhesive Backed Sequins to further add some embellishment. I added one of the sentiments from the stamp set heat embossed in white on some Basic Black cardstock.
a little look at the stamped inside
I added some of the leftover Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper from the card front and a small strip of the More Dazzle Specialty Paper to the inside of my card with some light blending in Blueberry Bushel and Starry Sky to finish of the inside of my card.
I hope that you enjoyed my project today and were able to get some inspiration and will try out some Ombre Stamping.
