Southern Serenade Cards ~ For the Love of Creating Blog Hop

Hi there and welcome to the very first ‘For the Love of Creating’ blog hop run by the lovely fellow Tasmanian demonstrator, Kim Oliver.

I am so excited to be participating this month and can’t wait to see what all the participants have come up with. I am sure there is going to be some lovely work displayed!

This hop has no theme exactly, just a bunch of fellow demonstrators showing off what we love most about the current new products.

For me it was a VERY hard choice, but something grabbed me about this new Southern Serenade stamp set from the Occasions catalogue. I loved the gorgeous lace, textures and that beautiful floral image.

It lends itself really well to a whole array of colouring techniques and gave me a good excuse to get the Brusho Crystal Colours out for a play!

Here’s an overall look at the set of cards that I made.

I have taken to really creating things in sets these days. I at least make two of the card when I sit down to create since a standard card base is an A4 sheet cut in half, why not kill two birds with one stone so to speak?

But in this case I made FOUR!

The reason I made four is because playing with Brusho is SO ADDICTIVE! I started creating background with the gorgeous Crystal Colour and got hooked.

Something else new is that I dug out my thick Very Vanilla A4 cardstock and used this as a base for my card. It paired well with the somewhat vintage feel I was going for with these cards.

I do not use vanilla enough!

So to get right into the blog hop, here is a look at each of the designs up close.

As you will be able to see each one is so individual and different, but I like that!

For this card I used a mixture of the Gamboge, Brilliant Red and the Yellow. So all three colours on the one card. They all swirled together to create a gorgeous design.

I did spray the card with water first, apply the Crystal Colour and then I sprayed again to really get the colours moving.

I decided to use the Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends on this one for a bit of a mix.

This card I made using a mixture of Gamboge and Yellow focusing most of the colour towards the bottom left. I like the way this one turned out!

I coloured the flowers using the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. 

I decided to do something a little different on this card and stuck only with the Brilliant Red Brusho. I  LOVE the way it turned out.

Would you believe me if I said that I am actually NOT a red person? Red is definitely not my favourite colour so it isn’t something I reach for at the craft table often. I do however love the depth and vibrancy of the red Brusho. It is sensational.

This card I kept with just the Yellow Brusho and made the focus those gorgeous flowers coloured with the Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends.

You may notice that my Delicate White Doilies are coloured also?

I coloured these using a sponge dauber and some Daffodil Delight ink. Adds a bit of extra texture while keeping with the colour scheme! 

Here’s a bit of a close up of the finished products. 

I love the texture and colours in these and it’s so different from my usual style which I love.

I love adding extra embellishments here and there and so loved adding some Glitter Enamel Dots, Wooden look Buttons from the True Gentleman Suite, Doilies, Rhinestones and more.

A card just wouldn’t be finished for me these days without somewhat decorating the inside. 

So I added a few of the textured stamps and florals in coordinating colours to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock on the inside. 

And of course to add the finishing touch, I made some coordinating Very Vanilla Envelopes. 

These are available in the store. Did you know we had Vanilla envelopes? They are quite often forgotten. I stamped these in coordinating colours and coloured the flowers on the envelope with some Wink of Stella!
