Welcome to part three of the chain card swap series that I am sharing. Did you miss part two? Head on over here and check it out. I will be sharing eleven posts in this series and today is part three.
What is a chain card swap? A group of people participate and it is similar to Chinese whispers where cards get sent around the chain of people and you CASE the card and send it on so that when it gets sent back to the original creator it may look completely different to the original – how fun is that?
Today I am sharing a card using the Stampin’ Up! Bee Mine Suite. I had fun as the card that came to me featured this fun split front card design which is something I have not done often. I knew that I wanted to change up the colours and make it bright, fun, happy and simple but use that split front card design idea!
For this third blog hop, part two we are all sharing our cards that we CASE’d for Cheryl Hurst’s card. See below for a list of all the blogs and the beautiful cards where you can hop along and see where the card started and ended. It is very cool to see the progression of a card along one of these chain card swap series. It helps to start at Cheryl’s blog if you have found yourself here and not hopping along as that way you can see the card as it progresses.
MONIQUE FIELDER’S CARD THAT I CASE’D
the finished card using the split front card idea
Here is a look at my finished card. When I received Monique’s card I immediately fell in love with the split front card design and wanted to keep to that design. These style cards are simple yet so effective!
I had no yet played much with the Bee Mine Suite of products from the Mini Catalogue and felt that this style of cards would really be fun to work with in bright pops of colour in a simple but fun card design like this one.
Split front card designs can be mixed and matched to be different layouts and sizes, landscape or portrait and the panel that joins the two does not necessarily have to be symmetrical, rectangle or square. You could choose to do it off centred and have a circular or tag shape. There are so many options when it comes to the split front card designs! I chose to keep my design however to the card I was CASE’ing.
a close up of some of the cute details
Here is a look at some of the closer details of my card. I just love these adorable bees that come with this gorgeous suite and I just love that it is a stamp and punch bundle! These style bundles are so quick and easy – perfect for a beginner stamper! I have actually mixed and matched both stamped and punched bees with fussy cut bees and designs taken from the Designer Series Paper!
My rectangle ‘joining’ piece has been lightly blended with some Pool Party ink and then stamped with some beautiful greenery in Parakeet Party and added to with some flowers in Sweet Sorbet and Petal Pink. I embellished with some of those stunning Hearts & Flowers from the suite!
It wouldn’t be complete without a gorgeous sentiment which I heat embossed in my favourite white on black and really made shine with some More Dazzle Shimmer Paper in Gold!
a look at the inside – some more cute details
I really made the inside pretty with some more Pool Party blending and lots of fussy cut elements from the Designer Series Paper. This gorgeous paper is just amazing and so cutesy! I added some beautiful stamped hearts in Sweet Sorbet Ink and added a touch more of that More Dazzle Shimmer.
This split front card came together so quickly with a simple and easy design that is both as quick and easy as it is fun! Will you be giving it a go?
Be sure to hop along and see the next gorgeous card in the chain card swap – this is the fun part!
I suggest you start at Cheryl’s blog and hop along from there.

Thanks Annette. I love how this round didn’t start as a split front card and ended up being one. It was fun though!
