I was so excited to have been asked to join the FAB Instahop team where we are going to be doing monthly Instagram hops! I have taken a peek at the upcoming hops and I am really excited – they are something a little bit ‘different’. I can’t wait to share!
This is my first hop and it was all about the flowers and our favourite flowers, where do I start with that…Stampin’ Up! is known for it’s flowers! Flowers is what Stampin’ Up! does well and the florals are always the best sellers. I had a big think about my own personal favourites though and I don’t think I actually have a specific one favourite flower as I do have a feeling!
It brought me to a memory…and something that wraps up my love of flowers.
Here is a picture of my wedding bouquet (I am not married anymore, but the memory and the essence of what these flowers represent of me is all beautiful the same)
You can see a link to my post on Instagram which includes links to all the others on the hop here.
These flowers are all kinds of colours and happy in one. There’s not one specific theme, one specific colour – they are just bright & happy. That’s what I love about flowers and what my favourite flower is – bright and happy! It’s a ‘feeling’ – that bit of warmth you feel in your chest when you see them.
I tried to recreate what I saw in these in my project with the Two Tone Flora bundle which carried over from a previous catalogue – this stamp & die bundle is perfect as it’s a two step stamping set and so colours beautifully!
Here is a look at the bouquet that I created! I have used so many colours to create this little bundle but I love how it turned out. I was wishing we still had a Peekaboo Peach or Pale Papaya but instead to achieve a lighter orange tone I stamped off the Pumpkin Pie and lightly blended some Calypso Coral with a Blending Brush onto the stamp – I then stamped the detail on top with full strength Pumpkin Pie.
My others flowers are stamped in; Lemon Lolly & Daffodil Delight, Sweet Sorbet, Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape, Bubble Bath & Flirty Flamingo & then the leaves are stamped in Garden Green and Lost Lagoon.
Here is a close up look at the finished card. I have created a distressed look to my card background by using a piece of Basic White thick cardstock and tearing the edges before adding some Lost Lagoon ink with a Blending Brush. I have adding some light stamping and spritzed some ink with a Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Write Marker.
I have finished the card with some Brushed Brass Butterflies and some Iridescent Pastel Gems (these are so beautiful!)
I also added a double bow with the Black & White Gingham Ribbon which I have cut in half down the centre to make thinner.
I decorated the inside of the art with some more ink blending with Lost Lagoon ink and some stamping in Lost Lagoon and then added some left over floral pieces from the card front.
I added an additional left over piece of the Irresistible Blooms Designer Series Paper and layered this on a piece of Lost Lagoon before adding to the card inside.
I had so much fun interpreting this hop and thinking about what represented my favourite flower/s. It was so much fun to recreate this and also to have a play with a bundle that had been sitting on my shelf for a little while!
This is a great stamp set/bundle for someone that doesn’t like to colour as the work is done for you as it is two step stamping!
