A happy Friday to you! I hope that you will have a lovely weekend wherever you are in the world! I know that I am planning to!
This week’s TGIF challenge is a bonus one as we landed with an extra week!
Where I am in Tasmania, Australia it’s actually the cold part of winter at the moment, but it was nice to have the challenge because I’d rather think of the warmer weather and the beach this week so I took this week’s beach party challenge as a good distraction from the cold!
You can interpret these challenges however you like and go with the fonts, something about the image shown in the graphic or the theme!
Head over to the TGIF blog and check out the challenge and join in!
With my card this week I actually decided to use a catalogue sample that has been grabbing my attention for a while! Every time I flick through the catalogue this one stops me and it was perfect for this theme. So I grabbed my Oceanfront and Seaside Bay bundle and recreated the card in my own design.
Here is a look at the catalogue sample.
and here is a look at the card that I created…
I chose to change up the colours a little bit and start with a Pool Party card base and change my layering to Blackberry Bliss.
I kept the watercoloring colours the same which are featured below. Here is a look at the overall colour scheme that I have used…
It took a lot of playing around to get the watercolour technique to work which was actually featured as a ‘tip’ in the catalogue with using the Oceanfront stamp on the Fluid 100 paper. It is a balance between having the watercolour paper just wet enough to get the stamped image to lightly bleed and then lightly misted it afterward to get it to move a little further.
It takes a little practice!
I do enjoy playing with these kinds of techniques though!
I played with so many different products on this card – definitely a fun one for using your stash! I pulled out the Stylish Shapes Dies and the beautiful “For You” dies from the Love For You Dies.
Here is a close up look at the finished card.
I have used some die cut elements from the Seaside Bay dies and stamped those little birds in Starry Sky before die cutting them out to use as a focal point on the card. I die cut out those little shells in the stunning In Colour Luster Specialty Paper in Copper Clay. That paper is so beautiful!
Lastly I embellished with some sequins and some Linen Thread.
Here is a little peek at the inside where I have repeated some of the elements and left over die cuts along with some light Blending with some Pool Party ink using a Blending Brush.
I have also spritzed some ink from a Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write marker.
I just had to add some more of that glittery Copper Clay paper, because it is gorgeous!
I hope that you enjoyed my version of this catalogue sample and my take on this week’s TGIF challenge. Be sure to head over to the blog this week and check out the rest of the team’s samples as well as take part in the challenge yourself.
I have linked all the products that I have used in my project today below, all of which are available in my online store here.
Until next time, crafty hugs. xx
