Stampin’ Up! Whale of a Time ~ IIBH Blog Hop ~ Stamparatus Technique

Hello lovelies and a big welcome back/to my blog.

Today I am excited to be sharing with you a card using one of our fabulous new suites, the Whale of a Time suite. This suite is just gorgeous for young and for old! I guarantee that it is a suite that you will want to get hold of – because the possibilities are endless!

The exciting thing about today’s blog post is that I am taking part in a fun blog hop for the #IIBH and we are focusing on our favourite tools this month!

I decided to focus on a super handy and fun tool…the Stamparatus!

Here’s a look at my finished card.

When I saw that we were focusing on tools and I wanted to play with this suite, I just saw the whale from the stamp set and knew that I wanted to stamp a multi-toned whale in our beautiful blue colours!

For this, one of my favourite nifty Stampin’ Up! tools comes perfectly into play – the Stamparatus!

What is a Stamparatus? – the Stamparatus is our nifty stamp positioning tool. It allows you to place a stamp and either stamp it multiple times in the same position or even complete some hinge stamping techniques! You know when you stamp something down and it might not stamp quite correctly and it’s hard to re-align and stamp perfectly again? – this is where this tool is PERFECT!

On the card I have shown today, I have used the tool to position my whale firstly in the centre of the Whisper White piece on my Stamparatus and stamped it first in Coastal Cabana. I then left the paper in position and re-stamped in Pacific Point, applying the ink only to the top section of the whale with one of our Sponge Daubers. I then repeated this step three times across the piece of Whisper White.

I have also repeated this stamping technique with the seaweed stamp from the Whale Done Stamp Set using a mixture of Granny Apple Green and Pretty Peacock inks.

I have matted this piece on some Pacific Point Cardstock and adhered to a Basic Black card base.

I also added a small strip of the Whale of a Time DSP to the bottom and attached some Linen Thread around this piece also.

Here’s a close up of my finished card where you can see some of the finer details.

I have added some of the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon behind the sentiment which is heat embossed in white on Basic Black Cardstock. 

I then used the fabulous Sprig Punch and punched out some ‘sprigs’ in Vellum Cardstock to further accent this area around the sentiment. 

I did add some Wink of Stella spritzing and some of the fabulous Whale of a Time Sequins.

I also stamped a fun little heart from the stamp set in Magenta Madness.

Here you can see the decorated inside of the card which I have kept pretty simple with layers of Basic Black and Whisper White with a thin leftover strip of the beautiful Whale of a Time DSP with some Linen Thread and a simple sentiment from the Whale Done stamp set stamped in Pretty Peacock.
