Hi guys and welcome back to my blog.
Today I am excited to be sharing with you a card that was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest. I actually forget who it was from…oopsie!
Pinterest is one of the best places to go when you are stuck for motivation or want ideas with a new stamp set. Just type in Stampin’ Up! and the name of the stamp set.
Today I am sharing a fun card made using a fabulous sponging technique using oval makeup brushes that I learnt off the lovely and super inspiring Dena Rekow!
This card is actually very simple to make and only uses very basic supplies.
Be sure to check below for links to all the supplies to make this fun card which you can purchase in my store.
Here you can see the finished card.
I have used one of the my favourite colour combinations to create this card, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point.
Don’t they look great blended together?
I love blues and greens together and always have.
To create this card I followed these steps:
- Cut a card base from Whisper White Thick. I have created a side folding card.
- Cut a layer of Basic to 10cm x 14.4cm. Adhere this to your card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Cut a piece of Whisper White Thick to 9.7cm x 14.1cm and stamp this piece with the gorgeous hibiscus stamp with Staz On ink on the left hand side. Once you have done this, take you oval makeup brushes or similar and sponge Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point, working to blend well and blend each colour into the other.
- Once this has had a second to dry. Flick some water on it to create some ‘water dots’ which react with the water based ink. I have then also spritzed some Wink of Stella.
- Heat emboss a sentiment on Basic Black cardstock in white. I have trimmed this piece around the sentiment and flagged the end. I have stuck a piece of the Braided Burlap Trim where shown with Glue Dots, before adhering the sentiment over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals (it’s a good idea to use the Black Stampin’ Dimensionals here)
- Tie a double Linen Thread bow and adhere where shown with a Glue Dot.
- Finish off with adhering one of the Tropical Oasis Trinkets with a Glue Dots.
- Decorate the inside of the card if you wish (see picture below)
Here you can see a close up of the finished card.
You can see just how fun and effective that sponging looks. I have become very addicted to sponging lately! I keep adding it to everything!
Here’s a look at the inside of the card where I have simply added a hibiscus flower and sponged some Granny Apple Green over the top.
I have added a couple of layers of black and white.
I hope you enjoyed the post today and got some inspiration.
