Just a couple of weeks ago I attended the much loved Online Stamping Retreat hosted by the lovely Kylie and Bruno Bertucci and mother/daughter team Lisa Curcio & Gina Hawley. I always look forward to this event and have so much fun and this last event was amazing! I have actually been in hospital but popped home for a crafting day and got a few of the projects done. This is my first project that I am sharing from the event from the Kylie/Bruno class where I learnt how to make a Triple Panel Z Fold Slide & Lock Card. This fun fold card is such a great way to feature Designer Series Paper and is easier to make than it looks…

the finished triple panel z fold slide & lock card
This is the finished triple panel Z fold card closed with the slide and lock feature opened. I loved Bruno’s example using the Mediterranean Blooms Suite and chose to keep mine the same with a few additional details. This fun fold design appears to be rather inconspicuous on the outside until the card is opened!
I really enjoyed using the included stitched detail die to create a base for the focal point to be adhered to. Using a Blending Brush I coloured this from a Basic White base to a beautiful mixture of both Lemon Lolly and Peach Pie inks. I really wanted to make it quite bold to adhere my cluster of citrus fruits over.
close up of the finished detail
Here is a look at the close up detail. My actual citrus fruits are watercolored using a Water Painter and a mixture of; Peach Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow and Lemon Lolly inks. I really had a lot of fun watercolouring and it is a great technique to use to get a beautiful depth and variety of colour. Heat embossing the images allows a great base to watercolour with as the embossed ‘walls’ help to contain the colour.
I added some die cut foliage in Old Olive which I have used some Mossy Meadow Ink and a Blending Brush to add some depth of colour to the edges.
All of this was finished with some of the beautiful coordinating Opal Rounds from the suite. I also snuck in an upcoming product which is some Baker’s Twine from the upcoming September-December Mini Catalogue. Stay tuned!
how the triple panel z fold with a slide & Lock works
Here is a look at how the Triple Panel Z Fold Slide and Lock card works. Those panels adhered on the left hand side ‘tuck in’ to the right hand panel underneath the square feature panel. This ‘locks’ the card together and creates this fun fold! This is a great design to add all those beautiful Designer Series Paper and let them shine as a feature on a beautiful card.
I love the depth of the deep blues in the Mediterranean Blooms Suite and they look just beautiful combined with the orange and green tones of this citrus theme.
The Triple Panel Z Fold Slide and Lock design also leaves room for a hidden card where you can add more memorabilia, messages or even photos!
the fun card opened to reveal a hidden card
Here is a close up look at the card opened and showing some of the detail added to the inside. There is a beautiful detail frame die which looked stunning added as a feature to the inside card. I have die cut this from Mossy Meadow cardstock and used some additional Mossy Meadow Ink to add some depth.
Some light blending on the backing cardstock with some splatters and stamping with Night of Navy Ink added just enough detail with some additional watercolored flowers and extra foliage.
a look at the inside
Here is a look at the ‘hidden’ card on the inside which I have added a layer of white and some Peach Pie blending with a few of the additional die cuts and a simple sentiment stamped in Night of Navy.
I have actually used three of the four included sentiments from the Citrus Blooms stamp set which worked well all combined together.
This was such a fun card to make and I can’t wait to make another inspired by Kylie’s version of the card. I always have so much fun at the Online Stamping Retreat and can’t wait to finish all my other projects which I will share soon. Be sure to go and follow the OSR page for all the updates.
Much love & crafty hugs. xx
