The Facebook Live Friday check ins have still been proving to be a blast and I have been having so much fun. Last night I had a play with another Sale-a-Bration set as can you believe Sale-a-Bration only has nineteen days left? You do not want to miss out on getting those freebies! You can check out all the Sale-a-Bration fun and how to earn Sale-a-Bration goodies on your qualifying orders in my online store here. To not miss out on my Facebook Lives check out my events page on my Facebook here. Last night I played with the Watercolor Melons stamp set and showed some techniques with the Whisper White Craft Ink. This is a bit of a forgotten gold nugget in the Stampin’ Up! catalogue as you can do some really fun things with this beautiful ink!
Last night I showed how to both stamp with the Whisper White Craft Ink but also how to use the ink to make fun splotches on the background of the card. This is quite simple to do and provides a very beautiful eye catching result! Be sure to check the bottom of this post where I have provided a free PDF tutorial to download on how to make this fun project.
the finished card
Here is a look at how the finished card came together. I love the vibrancy of the colours and how they all worked together for the finished design. You could use a mixture of colours for different melons with this stamp set and create different types of melons including honeydew melons, rockmelons etc…
I decided to go with the obvious and create some watermelons for my card. The Sweet Sorbet Ink colour provides a nice bright melon and the Granny Apple Green provided a nice vibrant rind colour.
I decided to add some darker Shaded Spruce for the foliage to add a extra colour and darker tone onto the card to help the watermelons really ‘pop’.
The background which was stamped with the Rays of Light background stamp is where I used the Whisper White Craft Ink. This was really where I had the fun with my card and I am not going to lie, this bit can get messy – but is totally worth it!
I placed the Rays of Light background stamp onto the Glass Mat and used this to “hold” the stamp in place. (P.s. have I mentioned that the Glass Mat is amazing and you can get it FREE – simply by joining Stampin’ Up! during Sale-a-Bration? click here to see how) and then I used the Whisper White Craft Ink on the background stamp and used the Stampin’ Brayer as a great tool to roll over the top to get a nice evenly stamped image! These tools were fantastic to use with background stamps!

a close up of the whisper white craft ink techniques
On this close up you can how amazing the Whisper White Craft Ink looks stamped directly onto that Sweet Sorbet Cardstock. It provides such a beautiful opaque styled stamped look.
I have also used a second technique with the Whisper White Craft Ink and used the Whisper White Craft Ink refill bottle and watered some down on an acrylic stamping block. Using a paintbrush I then flicked some over the Sweet Sorbet Cardstock to create these beautiful little splatters. This does take some time to dry as it is a pigment ink and is thicker than water based ink but is definitely worth the effort as it gives a gorgeous splattered style to the background. You can see how I have achieved this on the video linked in the PDF tutorial below.
The beautiful stitched detailing on the circle is created using the Everyday Details Dies from the new Mini Catalogue which are definitely some of my new favourites and I have used the Parakeet Party Baker’s Twine to backstitch through the holes. I love how much textures and detail this adds which such minimal effort.
a look at the inside of the card
I added a little bit of blending with some Granny Apple Green ink to the inside of the card with some splattering from a Sweet Sorbet Stampin’ Write Marker to add a little bit of colour on some Basic White Cardstock. To add a little bit of texture I used some Sweet Sorbet Textured Specialty Paper and More Dazzle Specialty Paper to the bottom edge. To finish the inside of the card off I added a wedge of watermelon and a Shaded Spruce leaf from the Watercolour Melons Stamp Set. This finished off the card.
I hope that you were able to get some inspiration from my card share today and got some ideas for creating with this stamp set. I had loads of fun and I have even more ideas to create with this stamp set now and I am keen to have even more of a play with the Whisper White Craft Ink because I won’t lite, it does become a bit of a forgotten supply in my craft stash too!
