I was recently thinking about the themes of cards that I often make and the ones I make more or less of. More often or not the cards I generally make 99% of the time are generalised themed or friendship cards and this is because I just love to send RAK (random acts of kindness) around the world, however generally the other theme would be thank you, and then birthday. I often don’t share the other less “popular” themes like; wedding, anniversary card ideas, baby cards, loss or sympathy etc…
It made me think after my Dad requested that I make an anniversary card for my mum (pretty cute hey?) My dear parents both follow my business page on Facebook and my Dad has recently been seeing my Dual Pop Up Cards that I have been sharing. If you haven’t seen them, here is a bit of a sneak…
a little sneak at the dual pop out cards i have been making…
These cards were created after I learned this fun fold at the Online Stamping Retreat back in October last year! Exciting News! It’s happening again — in fact in a week! I am so exciting! There is still time to sign up and learn some amazing fun folds like this one!
the let’s craft together february challenge – use your Designer Series Paper!
This post today is part of the monthly Blog Hop by Let’s Craft Together so thank you for joining us. We are a group of multi-cultural Stampin’ Up!® demonstrators in Australia who have developed a strong friendship though our love of stamping and our admiration of each other’s style of crafting. I am really excited to have been invited to join such a talented group. I know you will be inspired by our hops.
Each month one of us sets a challenge that we use for the months blog hop. This month’s challenge is a DSP theme as shown below.

This month’s hop was actually decided by me and is all about using up that Designer Series Paper! Don’t hoard it, chop it up – love it and let it shine on those projects. It looks much better gracing those gorgeous paper craft projects than hoarded in those craft cupboards. Let’s let it shine on our projects.
I really enjoyed the challenge this month and I knew the Dual Pop Up Card was the perfect fun fold for this challenge – as I loved how this fold really let’s it shine AND it’s a pretty cool card to make an anniversary card deserves some special attention and some special Designer Series Paper.
the finished anniversary card
Here is a look at the finished card. I just love how it came together. The idea of the Dual Pop Out card is to keep the outside relatively simple because the magic is really on the inside of this card but I really do love my card designs to “flow”.
I decided to actually go with the same pattern in the Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper to feature on this card. You may not be able to tell but that Wild Wheat background is actually Designer Series Paper and when you open the inside of the card and see the daisy pattern, it is actually the reverse side of this piece!
I made the card front all about texture and combined lots of different textures from cardstock, glimmer paper, Luster Specialty Paper and then added blending and shading to my cardstock to add further depth and tone.
the colour palette
I loved playing with colour for this fun card! The Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper pulls in the colours of Wild Wheat and the Moody Mauve and Bubble Bath but I decided to complement this scheme with some Blackberry Bliss, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and Gold Accents.
I love how it all pulled together!
a close up of the front of the card & the details
Here is a close up of the finished card. What I loved about the finished card was a new product that I used from the Mini Catalogue – the Everyday Details Dies. These are SO CUTE! They die cut with little holes that are perfect for adding stitching details. I used this with the Baker’s Twine to add some beautiful texture on my Moody Mauve die cut circle which I had added some Berry Burst blending to which added some additional depth to.
The feature of the card was really those beautiful daisies and the ‘Love You’ which were taken from the Cheerful Daisies Bundle and Love For You Dies. I have die cut all of these in a mixture of; Blackberry Bliss, Bubble Bath, Berry Burst and Gold Glimmer. I love how they all layer together!
P.s. Do you want a handy reference chart of how to layer those daisy die cuts – I created one a while back and it’s a handy one to reference which dies go where. You can find it in this post here.
I finished off the card with some frayed Moody Mauve ribbon and some of the Moody Mauve In Colour Dots! Oh and I snuck in a Brushed Brass Butterfly – they are too cute not to!
a look at the inside and the dual pop up mechanism
Here is a look at the beautiful dual door mechanism on the dual pop up card. I love the mechanism on these fun fold cards and it was so much fun to change it up and create an anniversary card with the Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper.
The doors were fun to create because I wanted to keep them similar to the Earthen Elegance Dual Pop Up Card I created and have embossing featured on the doors. I decided to bring in something new and featured one of the Sale-a-Bration folders that you can get FREE at the moment and pulled in the Softly Sophisticated Embossing Folder which looks amazing embossed on the Moody Mauve cardstock and softly blended over the top with some Berry Burst (this is the same combination that I used on the stitched circle on the front) and helps to bring in some flow to the card).
I added some Distressed Gold Speciality Paper for a bit of pizzazz and decorated with a single die cut daisy and Brushed Brass Butterfly as an accent.
a look at the opening doors
Here is where you can really see some of the show stopping design and why I really think this shows how this card is not only a show stopper, a great anniversary card but also a great card to show off Designer Series Paper and #loveitchopit. As you can see the whole inside of the card features that daisy pattern – which is the reverse side of the wild wheat.
I love it! I thought at first that it might be too busy, but I wanted to let my Designer Series Paper shine. It’s too pretty not to, and remember what I said at the start, no hoarding the Designer Series Paper!
let’s take a complete look at the inside
Here you can really see it on full display! I added a pretty accent up on the top of the opened card where I added another stitched detail with the Everyday Details Dies but this time it is a rectangular design. These dies are definitely going to be a new addiction!
I repeated all the same design features but this time I have cut the daisies apart so that I only used two of the daisies (the third daisy was used on the dual doors). I have added some of the leafing design in Lemon Lime Twist to accent and embellished with some more Brushed Brass Butterflies and Moody Mauve In Colour Dots.
a close up look “nobody gets you like you get me” – the perfect anniversary card
To finish off the anniversary card one needs somewhere to write, and trust me my Dad always has a lot to say – I definitely got it from somewhere!!!
I added a panel of Basic White matted on some Blackberry Bliss cardstock which I have accented with some Distressed Gold Specialty Paper and Gold Glimmer. I added some stamping with those beautiful daisies stamped in Berry Burst and Wild Wheat and some light blending in Wild Wheat.
You can see from the inner panels of the dual doors that there is actually some tone on tone stamping on those doors which was a subtle effect that I decided to add.
do you want to see even more?
I just love how this anniversary card turned out and I hope that my Mum did too. When I think of my Mum, I often think of her in the garden with all her flowers but I also think of magentas and pinks as being the colour that really brings out all her natural beauty so I knew that this was the suite to use for her!
I hope to you got some inspiration from my project share today and will be creative.
As mentioned early this was a challenge and a blog hop…
