I’ve been on a roll this week sharing a bit of a series of these Dual Pop Up Cards that I learned how to make at the Online Stamping Retreat that I attended back in October last year and this is the third card that I made in my little strike of inspiration this week that I am sharing today – what I am calling my pop up gaming card! This card would be perfect to give a teenage boy or any gaming lover! You can see my previous cards in the series here and here.
Speaking of Online Stamping Retreat — registration is finally open for the 2024 Session One Retreat!! I have my ticket and I am ready to go! I am so very excited and can’t wait. You can book your place here.

the finished pop up gaming card

Here is a look at the finished card. I love how the effect of the Holographic Foil as a whole layer turned out and with the reflections it gave the card a bit of a ‘technical’ gaming vibe to this pop up gaming card. It is sometimes hard to think of teenage/male themed cards and this fun Level Complete stamp is great for teenagers! Plenty of boys I know would love this card. I chose not to add too many embellishments, instead just adding a little bit of spritzing using a Basic Black Stampin’ Blend (these are alcohol based so work perfect on non porous surfaces like foil!), I also added some of the Classic Matte Dots to add some extra embellishment with added height.
the colour palette
I found when working with masculine style cards, sometimes it is easier not to over complicate the colour scheme and keep it pretty basic! I chose a couple of colours, here a nice and simple yellow and blue. They are bold but add a nice pop of colour!
close up of the details

Here is a close up look at the finished card and some of the details. I did add a little bit of texture to the finished card by adding some glimmer with a small strip of the Silver Adhesive Backed Glimmer paper. Normally I wouldn’t think of adding glitter to a masculine card, however I thought with this ‘gaming’ theme it would work nicely.
I added a die cut taken from the Simply Sparkling Dies cut from some Blueberry Bushel which also added a nice grounding for some of my elements.
reveal of the inside of the pop up gaming card

Here you can see the reveal of the mechanism behind this pop up gaming card. The idea behind these Dual Pop Up Cards is pretty nifty with the dual panels that open up to reveal a panel for writing. It allows for some extra decorations to be added and a pretty cool interactive experience!
I added an extra vintage gaming controller which I have heat embossed in black on some foiled Holographic cardstock. I added some gaming control icons heat embossed in white on grey cardstock cut in strips and added them to my panels of glittery cardstock.
a look at the inside…

Here is a look at the final reveal. You can see I have added a final panel where you can add a message to the recipient. I added the greeting; “When it feels like game over, always choose to play again” I just think that is the best greeting!
I hope that you enjoyed a look at this fun masculine/teen themed card today and got some inspiration.
Be sure to check out the other pop up cards in the series here & here.
Until next time, crafty hugs. xx
