I have been participating in a chain card swap over the last couple of month’s. Chain card swaps are a lot of fun and based on the idea that you make a card, send it on in the chain and then it is sent around a ‘chain’ of participants who CASE (copy and selectively edit). The person then sends it on until it reaches back to the original person and may look a little (or a lot) different to the original card.
Round two of this blog hop series sharing our chain cards is my card which I created with the Beauty of the Deep bundle and some vibrant colours!
my chain card swap card with the beauty of the deep bundle
I had so much fun creating this bright and vibrant card using the Stampin’ Up! Beauty of the Bundle. This technique of adding lots of a textured die cut over a simple white background before adding some intense colour blending over the top was the true inspiration for this project.
I love this effect over the coral with some vibrant colours like Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Peach Pie etc…
a close up of the detail on my finished card
To create more texture to the card I added few more of the stand alone dies from the Beauty of the Deep bundle which added more texture and colour. Embellishing the card was easy with the Wild Wheat Jute Trim (this stuff is beautiful to work with) and some of the pearls from the Thoughtful Journey Suite.
a peek at the inside
I added some more of that beautiful vibrant coloured blending to the inside of the card and then I added some tone on tone stamping for some more texture. I love these beautiful rich and bright warm tones for this card and how they turned out.
This was a fun card to make and I really enjoyed seeing the progression of the card throughout the chain.
You can see the whole ‘chain’ of card in the series and how the card has evolved below.
I suggest following it in order from number one onwards to see the true progression of the card.
Until next time, crafty hugs. xx

Wow! Beautiful. I love the technique you’ve used for the background. It’s a shame it didn’t make it further into the chain. Isn’t it funny which elements different people choose to focus on. Stunning work as always, Kayla.

This is stunning, Kayla, I love the technique you’ve used. It’s a shame this didn’t carry further through the chain.
I was fascinated to see what your starting point was when I made my card for the end of your chain – I couldn’t recognise your style in the version I was working on so I wondered where it had been adapted along the way.
