Birthday Goodness ~ Happy Birthday Gatefold Card

Hello lovely crafty friends and welcome back once again to my blog.

It’s almost the weekend for me. I am about to go on my four days off. Yippee!

In between doing some schooling with my six year old son Elijah, I am planning on getting lots of crafting in!

Today I have a fun card to share with you that I made recently for my gorgeous friend Jess who turned 30! I wanted to make her something special and I was also really inspired by my gorgeous friend Tania Tobinwho was sharing fun fold card techniques.

I went with the fun Gatefold idea and combined it with some of the gorgeous papers from the Best Dressed 6×6 Designer Series paper.

I already had this gorgeous macaron cake stamped and coloured from the beautiful Birthday Goodness Stamp set and it worked so perfectly for what I had in mind.

Here’s a look at my finished card where you can see just how fun this gate fold technique works for a fun fold card.

I think it really made this gorgeous designer paper shine as well! The florals in this paper are just gorgeous.

Here’s a couple of tips for creating this card:

To get the tassel like I have, I have used the Best Dressed Tassels in the pink colour and just simply added some Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends on the end to create an ombre looking tassel.
I have used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to create a base to put all my focal images on but only adhered the left hand side to the card to ensure it does not ‘stick’ shut.
I have added spritzes of Wink of Stella to add some extra sparkle and shine.
To add some soft touches I have used the leaf punch and some Vellum cardstock and tucked these into my focal point (the macaron cake)
I have added some of the Designer Series Paper with a sentiment stamped in black on the inside to carry the design through the card.

Here is a close up look at the finished card.

To ground my cake I have used the 2″ circle punch and some Petal Pink Cardstock with the Starburst Punch and some Gold Glimmer Cardstock.

Here you can see I have also added in the Gilded Gems. I just LOVE these and they are now available to order through my store.

The macaron cake it coloured with a mixture of; Pool Party, Lovely Lipstick and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends. I have also added Clear Wink of Stella to touches of this to make it shine!

Here’s a look at the decorated inside of the card where you can see I have simply added layers of Basic Black and Thick Whisper White with a strip of the Best Dressed Paper.

I have added one of the gorgeous birthday sentiments from the Birthday Goodness Stamp Set and kept it very simple.

No naked cards!
