Happy Friday lovely crafters and blog readers! Friday means that it is time for another TGIF challenge. I was inspired straight away by the gorgeous sketch this week and what appeared to be greenery coming out of the main focal point on the sketch. I was feeling BRIGHT this week and wanted to give the Masterfully Made suite some love, however I am a bright girl but this suite intimidates me. The papers in this suite are very busy and I was at a creative stump and when this happens, I have a suggestion – CASE the catalogue! What does this mean? Literally pull open your catalogue to the pages where the products appear and look at the samples, see what inspired you to purchase it in the first place copy and selectively edit it (C-copy A-and S-selectively E-edit). This will get the creative juices flowing!
#TGIF442 sketch challenge
Here is a the beautiful sketch for the week. Isn’t it beautiful?

where my inspiration came from in the catalogue – Case the catalogue
Here is a look at the project where I show how easy it is to CASE the catalogue. The original sample on page 102 of the catalogue is shown in Berry Burst and features exactly the same base layout with the same Designer Series Paper that I have used. When I saw this after knowing that I wanted to use this suite anyway – it worked perfectly with my design. This was the starting point that I needed and it also allowed me to incorporate the busy design without it taking over!
It is fun to CASE the catalogue designs when you are needing a creative push, are stuck in a creative rut or maybe you just want to try something new?
a look at my finished card…
Here is a look at my finished card. As you can see my finished card is similar to that seen above with that base design being quite similar except the colours being more focused towards Pretty Peacock. I loved that the Pretty Peacock was quite contrasting and really allowed the Berry Burst in that busy pattern to ‘pop’. Once I had this base design worked out I changed up the pattern to work with the sketch and add my own designs and added touches.
One of my favourite things to do is add ‘tone on tone’ touches so using the Pretty Peacock stamping on the Pretty Peacock cardstock was a lot of fun for me and then to layer on top of it again with Pretty Peacock die cuts was just the icing on the cake!
the colours that inspired this card…
To be honest – these gorgeous colours are what sold me on the Masterfully Made suite…who could resist the bright colours like these ones?
The mixture of the Lemon Lime Twist and Pretty Peacock is just to die for!
a close up of the finished card…
A close up of the finished card with all that texture and detail. I added a fun technique of using the other foliage die but this time changing up the texture by die cutting it in vellum. I didn’t want to keep it plain however, so I coloured the vellum with a Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blend and added Wink of Stella for sparkle and shine! So much fun!!
My focal point is added on a two layered circle cut from the Stylish Shapes dies. I cut the largest from Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock and edged it with a Blending Brush in Lemon Lime Twist and the smaller circle is die cut from Basic White Cardstock and blended with Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock. They look a treat layered together.
Lastly I embellished with some beautiful More Dazzle Specialty Paper, Linen Thread, Brushed Brass Butterflies and some of the Sequins Trio Pack from the Suite.
a pretty inside to matxh the pretty outside…
There just had to be a decorated inside and this one was no exception. I added another die cut which was left over and blended around this with Lemon Lime Twist.
Some leftover Designer Series Paper and More Dazzle Specialty Paper and I called it done!
I had a lot of fun creating this really bright and happy card & I am so glad that I jumped in and got my toes wet with this suite – I honestly recommend giving the idea of a CASE the catalogue session a go. It’s a great idea to ease yourself into the products you aren’t quite sure what to do i
