I am so excited to be joining the Be Inspired Design Team for a series of of monthly themed and inspiring blog hops that I hope bring some inspiration to you all! I am so honoured to have been asked to be part of the amazing team of talented designers! This month we are featuring embossing folders and and not only do Stampin’ Up! have a huge range of gorgeous embossing folders to choose from but there is a huge catalogue of embossing folder techniques that you can use to feature them with! I hope that you get some inspiration from my project share today using the Painted Posies 3D Embossing Folder. This is the first time I have used this embossing folder and I am in love!
the finished card

Here is a look at my finished card. One thing that I loved about using embossing folders is all the texture that is creates! I am all about texture and colour and this card definitely ticked my boxes with those two things as I went to town with bright colours and lots of texture.
I tried out some fun embossing folder techniques on my card adding ink directly to my embossing folder prior to running it through my machine and then adding metallic enamel effects to my card after it had dried. The beautiful shimmery and textured look that it gave the finished piece is gorgeous.
I added this to a piece of a distressed and texture Parakeet Party cardstock and layered it on a Basic White cardstock that I had run a Lemon Lime Twist ink pad directly on top of. The layering and texture really helped to build the base and texture for a fun and bright card!
a look at the colours that inspired my card…
The bright and fun colours I chose for the card really were one of the things I ended up loving most about my card. I wanted a bright and fun palette that would look nice working in a trio of fun ombre colours to work with the embossing folder.
let’s talk embossing folder techniques + some faux suede stamping!

I took some progress shots while I was making this card so you could see how I went about playing around with the embossing folder techniques and making the fun background on this one. I didn’t grab a photos of adding the ink directly to the embossing folder but that is super easy! Biggest tip: add ink to the side with the Stampin’ Up! logo! I started with my lightest colour of ink through to the darkest colour, working in thirds! use a Blending Brush to lightly blend the colours in between to avoid a harsh line! It is a good idea to lightly spritz your cardstock and the embossing folder before running it through the machine but only lightly!!!
Once this is dry, I have grabbed some Metallic Enamel Effects and adding some to my forefinger I have lightly rubbed this over the top of the raised parts of my embossed piece. This dries quite quickly!
tips for stamping flowers
To stamp my flowers and have them looking like they have a more suede/velvet look I have spritzed some cardstock lightly and then run a Bone Folder back and forth over the cardstock lightly separating the cardstock into two to reveal the core. This makes the cardstock look like suede. I have stamped directly onto the cardstock with ink and then punched this out. It appears to look more like suede.
a close up look at the embossing folder techniques

Here is a close up look at the finished card where you can see all that beautiful detail.
I embellished my card with the beautiful Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels and Loose Silver Sequins as well as some of the threads from the Herringbone Ribbon which I coloured with a Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.
The sentiment is taken from the Sentimental Park stamp set which was designed to match the Petal Park bundle which I have heat embossed in white on some Basic Black cardstock and edged with some More Dazzled gold specialty paper.
a look at the inside…

Here is a look at the inside of the card which I have decorated to match the card front. I have lightly blended with Lemon Lime Twist and added some stamped flowers in Berry Burst. The sentiment is stamped in Memento Black.
I added some of the beautiful More Dazzle Specialty Paper and a tiny strip of the Bubble Bath Cardstock. This was then added to the inside of my card!
I hope that you enjoyed & got some inspiration from my card today. I really enjoyed playing with some embossing folder techniques today, both playing with some ink directly to the embossing folder and adding the enamel effects to the embossed image afterwards. The Stampin’ Up! range of embossing folders is amazing and I love to create & play with them all!
