Do you have a favourite season? I gravitate towards Autumn. I just love the gorgeous oranges, red and brown tones! The challenge this week over at GDP includes a colour palette that felt very Autumnal to me and I was keen to play! Of course you could interpret that however you felt but you know when you get a feeling! I wanted to have a play with colouring foiled paper because I had this gorgeous Naturally Gilded Specialty Designer Series Paper that is actually an Online Exclusive product available in the Stampin’ Up! online store. Because it is foiled the beautiful gilded design resists the ink whilst taking on ink in the non gilded sections. This was perfect for my card design and left me with a gorgeous piece of paper perfect for my colour palette I was working with for the challenge!

a look at the finished card
Here is a look at the finished card. Colouring foiled paper is so easy! In fact I took a picture of the process so you can see where the paper started versus how it ended up on the finished card…
I just kept layering and adding colour until I was happy with the finished result – in fact it is a bit like an ombre effect! Colouring foiled paper is so much fun and we have a few different varieties available in the online store that this would work with. You can browse all the speciality papers in my online store here.
I have also been a little bit addicted to a technique where I add the ink pad directly to the Cardstock and run it along the card base. This adds some more definition and depth. I added this with the Cajun Craze card base for some added texture.
a close up look at how gorgeous the colouring foiled paper looks
Here is a look at the finished card where you can see all the texture and detail that the finished card has. I would laugh if I looked at all the recent cards I have made lately and saw how many feature this frayed ribbon/thread. It is such a gorgeous ribbon.
I used the beautiful Night of Flight Host Stamp Set as the feature on my card which I have coloured with Stampin’ Blends and for something a little bit different I actually coloured my butterfly directly on some Crumb Cake cardstock instead of Basic White. It really gives it a nice vintage look.
Lastly I have embellished the card with some Brushed Brass Butterflies and Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems. The combination of Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black looks beautiful in both an Autumnal and vintage way.
a look at the inside…
The beautiful stamped moth was too beautiful not to continue stamping on the inside of the card, I loved how it looked stamped up the right hand side of the card in Cajun Craze with a little bit of Cajun Craze blending over the top.
I added some more of the beautiful Naturally Gilded Designer Series Paper where I have repeated the technique of colouring foiled paper on a scrap piece to continue the beautiful design from the card front through to the inside.
Lastly I added a stamped sentiment and called the card done.
I had so much fun with this week’s challenge and it was nice to play with a different kind of colour challenge for me when I usually gravitate towards blues & greens.
Don’t forget to head here to check out the challenge & join in.
I hope that you got some crafty inspiration from my post today.
Until next time, crafty hugs. xx

Absolutely gorgeous. How did you color your base layer card to get that color/streak effect? Was that using Cajun craze ink pad on white card stock?

Hi lovely, thanks so much for your beautiful comment. To get that effect I have lightly used a Cajun Craze Ink pad brushed right over the top of Cajun Craze cardstock. So tone on tone. I have been using that technique quite a lot lately and love the distressed look that it gives.
I just go very lightly with the ink pad at a very slight angle. 🙂 x
