It’s almost time for the release of the new Mini Catalogue and that means lots of brand new products. I tend to always have some kind of favourite that just stands out to me and in this new Mini Catalogue it would just have to be the All About Autumn suite. The beautiful rich regals and stunning textures in the suite are just divine! I was itching to create a card using the beautiful coordinating 3D embossing folder that coordinates with this suite and go back to a technique that I have done in the past where you combine dry and heat embossing. This is a really fun embossing technique and looks great in any of the embossing powder colours!

the finished card showing off that gorgeous embossing technique!
Here is a look at the finished card. As you can see that embossed background is really what makes this card shine! I love the combination of the Blackberry Bliss with the copper! WOW!
To achieve this technique it’s quite simple here are the steps:
steps for a dry/heat embossed background
- On cardstock of choice spritz lightly with Stampin’ Spritzer (optional) but helps to break down the fibres particularly if working with a 3D embossing folder.
- Choose embossing folder (I love using 3D embossing folders for this technique as the more raised the better when heat embossing over the top!)
- Lightly rub Versamark over the top to catch the raised bits.
- Sprinkle embossing powder over the top of the piece. It will add too much! This is okay, rub some off with your finger. It is not suppose to be perfect.
- Heat set with heat tool. Voila!
This would look super cool done in so many colours – I want to try it in some of the rusty browns or the opposite of what I have done here and having Pretty Peacock as the background.
the colours that inspired my card…
I love the combination of purple/gold or purple/copper together and I will happily add Pretty Peacock to anything! Lost Lagoon is another favourite.
Crumb Cake is of course an all round perfect neutral.
a close up look at the finished card
Here is a look at the finished card up close. I love how beautiful this embossed detail looks up close. Playing with this embossing technique on a variety of colours, textures and in different powder colours really in addictive!
To embellish my card I have added some of the beautiful natural ribbon from the All About Autumn Suite (I haven’t linked that in my supplies below because it doesn’t go live in the online store until September 6th) but it is just gorgeous and frays so beautifully). I have been adding it to absolutely everything!
To stamp my leaves I have stamped them two toned in both Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon. This is so easy to achieve by inking the stamp in the lightest colour first and then adding some of the darker colour onto the stamp lightly with a Blending Brush before stamping. TIP: these stamps are DistINKtive stamps which means they are slightly more detailed and I have found they like LESS ink, sometimes I have found that inking them up and then lightly dabbing some ink off with a Blending Brush can work to achieve a more detailed image.
To get my detailed vein on my autumn leaves I die cut these out in Pretty Peacock before adding a bit of Liquid Glue (which I allowed to dry) lightly to some edges of the veins. – I did not cover the whole die cut piece) Once dry I added Gilded Leafing for some extra texture and shine before adhering this to my leaf.
Lastly to embellish I added some of the beautiful coordinating embellishments from the All About Autumn Suite and some of the Neutrals Adhesive Backed sequins. I can never say no to embellishments!
a little close up look at the inside
I used some of the left overs from the card front including some of the embossed detail from the card front after playing with that fun embossing technique! Never throw away those off cuts!
I also added some beautiful Blackberry Bliss ink blending and I have stamped and die cut another leaf and beautiful vein piece which I have added some Gilded Leafing to.
had a load of fun playing with this beautiful suite which is definitely a favourite from this beautiful new catalogue which goes live TOMORROW!!!
