Happy Friday lovely people! I love Friday’s! It means a weekend of no school mornings and a hopefully less chaotic weekend ahead. We have nothing planned and I can’t wait. In my opinion – they are the best kinds of weekends because it has a lot of crafting possibilities! I have been playing with the brand new Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalogue products this week and a stand out product is the gorgeous Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks! These are a new concept for Stampin’ Up! with the idea of layering stencil masks being a new ‘trend’ to hit the card making and paper crafting market.
I love that you can simply layer the masks easily to create the most adorable stencilled and blended flowers so quickly! These adorable sunflowers were perfect to match with my card for the challenge for TGIF this week!
#TGIFC437 sketch challenge

Here is a look at this week’s sketch challenge. This sketch reminded me of the floating circle trend that was going around for a while.

the finished card using the layering stencil masks

Here is a look at the finished card using the Abundant Beauty Stencil Masks. Do you want to see how cool these masks are?

As you can see each mask has different components of the sunflower, from the actual flower, to the leaves to the centres. There are also three other masks that include textures from snowflakes, leaves to houndstooth. These are such cool layering stencil masks to have in your crafting repertoire.
I used a mixture of; Fresh Freesia, Berry Burst, Parakeet Party, Lemon Lime Twist, Lemon Lolly and some Pumpkin Pie to colour my flowers before I fussy cut them out for my card.
a look at the colour palette for my sunflowers
I took the actual inspiration for my card from my trending ‘floating circle’ cards that were going around a little while back. I chose to stick to Basic White for my circle however and use the Deckled Circle Dies to cut out my circle.
For my paper ‘strips’ I have used a mixture of the Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper, More Dazzle Specialty Paper (which I have coloured with Berry Burst ink) and some of the gorgeous Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper. It all is so striking when placed together and die cut out in that circle!
a close up look at the finished card & detail

Here is a close up look at the finalised card. I really enjoyed adding some texture and detail to the card. I kept it relatively minimal because I just love the depth on the gorgeous sunflowers that the blending gave after using the layering stencil masks! It is just divine!
For my sentiment I used another new bundle which is one of my other new favourites and that is the Curved Occasions bundle. It comes with an adorable curved banner punch which makes it so easy to stamp and punch a quick sentiment. I gave my sentiment an easy ‘shadow’ by punching the banner a second time in the gold glitter from the More Dazzle paper and placing it slightly peeking out behind. This gives it quite a fun but dramatic look!
Lastly to embellish I have added some of the beautiful pink and green sequins from the sequin trio pack and some Linen Thread added behind my sunflowers.
a quick look at a pretty inside for a finishing touch!

Here is a look at the finished inside! There just had to be a pretty flower on the inside. This is the medium sized flower and just looked perfect to complete the card on the inside with some of the beautiful Soft Shimmer and More Dazzle specialty papers.
Lastly I added a beautiful sentiment stamped in Memento Black from the Curved Occasions Stamp Set. The card is complete!
Using these layering stencil masks really does put a beautiful card together really quickly and whilst I have fussy cut these sunflowers created with the stencils for this card – they would also look fantastic to create a one layer card or as a background. The possibilities are endless!
I hope that you enjoyed and got some inspiration from my post today.
Be sure to pop along and check out this week’s TGIF challenge and join in – we can’t wait to see your entry!
Until next time, crafty hugs. xx
