A little while ago (I have been so slack with posting) I attended the awesome Online Stamping Retreat by Kylie & Bruno Bertucci, Lisa Curcio and Gina Hawley. The Online Stamping Retreats are always so much fun! I have attended each of the retreats and they just keep getting better!
During this last retreat I had fun making this explosion card using the Stampin’ Up! Regal Winter suite from the Mini Catalogue. This is such a fun design and great way to really use those beautiful papers that you have in your stash!

the finished explosion card & belly band

Here is a look at the finished Explosion card all closed up with the belly band in place. You could get a way with not having a belly band on this style card, however it also helps to keep the gatefold hidden card on the back closed.

I decided to use and featured the beautiful foiled specialty papers from the Regal Winter suite as the focus on the front panels of my card. They really add an elegant touch.

Here you can see a look at the belly band removed to reveal the gatefold opening. I really went to town adding embellishments and decoration to my belly band using the beautiful label die and extra images as well as the stunning Woven Golden leaves.

This is a 5×7″ sized card and therefore does require a handmade envelope. I created one using some Basic White Cardstock and matching paper.

This is where the magic of the explosion card lies. When you open the gorgeous card it reveals this fold out explosion of colour and design!

This beautiful patterned designer paper is really a ‘WOW’ on this design with the beautiful florals and colours featured. It does all the work for the decoration with only a simple embellishment in the middle needed.

On the back of the card there are two side folding flaps which are decorated with the stunning floral pattern and open to reveal a beautiful space to add a greeting or message to the recipient.

This card was so much fun to make and I can’t wait to try it again with different colours, patterns and designs.
