I have to say in theme with this card thank you for all the great friends that wished me a Happy Birthday yesterday! I know there are lots of you that read my posts & support my little hobby – so a big THANK YOU to all of you. You always make all my days special! This week was a last minute pre-recorded class (with technical errors and all!) because I am off to have dinner with the parental and family for a birthday dinner. It’s always a special occasion if I am leaving the craft room/house. For this week I am making a fun (& somewhat quick and easy) Single Shutter Card.
You will have to excuse the few bloopers in this video and really bad trimming/cutting. You all need to see crafting in it’s real unedited approach! It is always good to keep it real.

I have really gone all out this week and even included an alternative version with is quite dark, moody and dramatic. I hope that you enjoy the project this week. Be sure to scroll to the bottom where you can download the Free PDF & video class.

Here is a look at the Single Shutter card in all its glory. What I love about fun folds like this one is that it is a complete surprise. This card doesn’t look like a fun fold from the front – it’s not until it unfolds that the fun mechanism and how it works is revealed.

For this week I have also used a brand new up and coming suite which will be available from January 7th in my online store. This beautiful Mixed Media Florals suite is part of the new Online Exclusives collection and features two beautiful suites, an embossing folder, gorgeous Designer Series Paper and matching embellishments. It is definitely a suite to have! That beautiful detailed die was enough to sell me!

These pictures give a look into how that fun single shutter mechanism works. It’s super easy and no waste, as you use the inside cut out from the window on the reverse!

I used that gorgeous new Plaster Painting 3D Embossing Folder to add some fun texture to my card front along with some ink blending with one of my favourite colours…Summer Splash.

When the single shutter card opens it flips open to reveal the reverse where I have used that inside of that frame. The beautiful Petal Pink stripe design from that Designer Series Paper is gorgeous.

Here is a look at the alternative sample that I created creating another Single Shutter card instead focusing on some dramatic black tones with a more purple colour way with touches of Peach Pie and yellows.

This was actually the original design that I created but decided on something softer to demonstrate.

Here is a look at the finer details on this alternative sample. I also included some Sale-a-Bration products on this design incorporating some Fresh Freesia Soft Seam Binding Ribbon and pink toned sequins both of which will be able to be redeemed for FREE with a $100 order from January 7th, 2025 onwards (only for the month of January and February). These are both gorgeous products and made the list of my favourite Sale-a-Bration choices!

Here is a look at the flipped/reverse side of this alternative Single Shutter Card that I created.
On the inside of this fun fold design there is plenty of room to write or add a greeting as I have added a panel of Basic White with a Basic Black matt which I kept simple with a touch of soft blending and simple stamping.
