I just had to come by and share this card I made for this month’s Instahop! This month it was a fun theme to feature either dry or heat embossing but I went all out and did both! In fact I decided to call all the shots and use one of the newer products I hadn’t yet played with from the Annual Catalogue the Delightful Doily Hybrid Embossing Folder!
Did you know that Stampin’ Up! makes hybrid embossing folders that both emboss and die cut? Not only do they have matching dies but you can do both at the same time!! Say what? I will have to do a product video soon showing you the ins and outs of how I do it. There is a great video here from Frenchie Martin on YouTube that has some great tips on using this particular hybrid embossing folder too!
To feature some heat embossing wasn’t hard for me, it goes on every card! I am a bit of an embossing addict!

a look at the finished card and that hybrid embossing!

Here is a look at the finished card. I actually started with the Designer Series Paper for my design. That helped me choose my colours and work out my design. Because this Designer Series Paper features a design with some paper tearing I knew that I wanted to feature this on the card – hence the design that I came up with. Once I have a design in my head, the rest can come together quite quickly.
I embossed and die cut my doily in Pretty Peacock first as I knew that I wanted this to ground my centrepiece. I loved how this turned out. It is a little hard to tell through a photo, but I lightly brushed some Pretty Peacock Ink over the top with a Blending Brush to increase the depth.
The torn edge of the Designer Series Paper was increased by adding another torn layer of the White Centre Specialty Paper in Berry Burst. I love the layered tearing look.
Tearing paper scares me a little bit because it is so unknown, unpredictable and could go all wrong but I am glad I put my worries aside for this card!
the colours that inspired the card…
I was so inspired by the colours featured in the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper for this card and so I actually stuck with those. Sticking with the same deep tones with a pop of bright and happy was my idea! I have to say that I struggle with Azure Afternoon so I am thrilled that I worked it into this card because it is not a colour that I find easy!
a close up look at the finished card

I love how much this shows all the texture and detail. I love text stamps, I always have so if there is ever a chance to use one, I will and so I have added one to the background layer of the Berry Burst on this card and just love it!
This close up also shows a little better how I have added the heat embossing to the leaves of the Lemon Lime Twist foliage. To do this I simply sponged and swiped some Versamark ink onto the ends before sprinkling some gold embossing powder over the top. This is not suppose to be perfect, in fact the more imperfect the better!
I finished with some Linen Thread and Wavy Trim for some texture and some of the new Blooming Pearls! Love these!
a little look at the pretty on the inside…

Here is a look at the inside of the card. I kept it pretty standard to how I decorate the inside of most of my cards by adding a bit of blending in the Berry Burst to the bottom right hand corner and added some stamping with similar stamps to the card front.
To accent I actually added an embossed strip which was left over from when I embossed and cut my doily from the hybrid embossing folder. I never waste anything and it coordinates so well!
I hope that you were able to get some inspiration from today’s card share. Make sure you check out my Instagram and check out the rest of the posts (linked above), they are all amazing.
I really do have loads of fun playing with embossing and the big selection of embossing options – especially those gorgeous hybrid embossing folders – how cool!
I have linked all the products I have used for today’s project below, all of which are available in my online store. Until next time, big crafty hugs. xx
