It’s another month of the Global Stampin’ Video hop and this month was a challenge for me! I just want to say that up front because I am definitely not good at simple stamping and it does not come naturally to me! That’ wasn’t the exact theme but it was all about sticking to ONE layer – SCARY stuff!
I have done the best I could and explained in my video below. It was definitely a fun challenge and I am always up for a great challenge as that is where the fun begins and the creativity occurs in crafting. It was a great time pull out these brand new Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks as they do all the work for you when it comes to adding some texture and dimension, especially when you are removing the layering potentials! I have shared more in my video and pictures below.

Be sure to check out the video as I have shared links to all of the other Global Stampin’ Video Hop team who have participated this month with their amazing projects! So inspiring with their gorgeous take on the theme. So many different ways to be inspired by the one layer idea! There are lots of great takes on the theme and so many great ideas to interpret into simple stamping ideas.
THE finished note cards & a decorated envelope to match!

Here is a look at the finished note cards. I just love the look of the layered houndstooth pattern. This is so easy to create by simply layering the first colour and then simply moving the masks and adding a second layer of colour. It’s best to start with your lightest colour (in this case Berry Burst) and then moving the mask and then adding your second darkest colour (in this case Blackberry Bliss) and then blending over the top). It adds such a trendy effect! You could make this cool background in a variety of grey/black, blues, greens – any colour really! I can’t wait to have more of a play!
I added some more depth and texture by spritzing my background with a Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker before distressing the top right corner with a bone folder and adding a staple and adding to my note card.
This was my one and only layer!
This was so hard for me to stop at this one and only layer. Those that are familiar with my style will know that simple stamping is definitely something that I struggle with and will know that I layer lots but the technique the masking and utilising the double masking with the houndstooth pattern helped to create the illusion of some extra depth and dimension to substitute for the loss of some of my layering and texture which I was happy with!
the main colours that inspired my simple stamping note cards
I think I missed a couple but these are the main colours that inspired my cards. They are quite autumnal but I have been loving the purples and yellows at the moment! Who wouldn’t feel happy when thinking of walking through a field of sunflowers?
SOME CLOSE UP IMAGES OF THE finished simple stamping note card

To add some embellishment and without adding in another product, I masked some sunflowers using the same masks. The gorgeous Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks also come with layering masks to make these gorgeous sunflowers!
To create these I masked with the following colours
Base sunflower: Daffodil Delight & Crushed Curry
Middle of sunflower: Pecan Pie & Copper Clay
Leaves for sunflower: Granny Apple Green & Pretty Peacock
These do not come with matching dies so I have fussy cut these out and have stuck them to the card with Liquid Glue attaching the smaller sunflower with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Lastly I added a sentiment from the Layering Leaves Stamp Set stamped in Pretty Peacock on some Basic White Cardstock and fussy cut.
To finish I added one Brushed Brass Butterfly.
I did add a few ‘extras’ to this card but all in all you get away with making this card from a set of decorative masks, some blending brushes, ink and a sentiment set. It’s a great simple stamping card that you can make in a variety of colours. You could make a set of note cards in a whole mix of colours or make a set of note cards as a gift.
This is a great project for beginners or just for an inky project when you want to have a play with blending inks and playing with colour!
I hope that you were able to get some inspiration from my project today and enjoyed hopping along.
Until next time, crafty hugs. xx
