Who doesn’t love something sweet like a cupcake or just a sweet treat in general?
That is the focus of the inspiration challenge this week over at TGIF.
I didn’t actually have anything cupcake related as far as a current stamp or die and so I took the challenge in different way and got inspired the cute little cherries that adorned the top of these gorgeous cupcakes and the colours on the cupcake to the left with the beautiful pinks and greens!
This fun Sweetest Cherries bundle has been on my desk from a previous card I had made earlier in the week and I am glad that I have been giving it some fresh love!
You too can join in this week’s challenge and take whatever inspiration you like from the picture below.

Here is a look at my project for this week…
Here is a look at my finished card I have chosen to grab the pink and green colours from the cupcake to the left on the inspiration picture and take those as my base inspiration. I quite often start with a colour inspiration when creating. Here is a look at the colours that I decided to create with….
I created a base for my focal images by adding some soft blending with some Bubble Bath and Melon Mambo ink with a Blending Brush to some Basic White cardstock and then added some Vellum cut with the Deckled Rectangle Dies. I’ve added this to a layer of Melon Mambo and added to a Melon Mambo card base.
I chose to keep my layer a little bit smaller to focus on a smaller area and have more of that Melon Mambo showing as a bolder colour design.
Here is a close up look at my finished card.
I have stamped the base of the cherry in Poppy Parade ink on Sweet Sorbet cardstock to really make the cherries ‘POP’. The leaves are stamped in Parakeet Party on Basic White with the leaf detail stamped in Lemon Lime Twist which is slightly darker of a shade.
Finally I have accented with some of the beautiful More Dazzle Specialty Paper which I love to call the DISCO BALL paper. It’s gorgeous!
I have added some pink sequins and some Black & white gingham ribbon.
I couldn’t not add a decorated inside so I have repeated some of the accents from the card front and another stamped and punched cherry. Simple but effective.
I have spritzed some Melon Mambo ink from a Stampin’ Write marker, which is also featured on the card front. I love the simple but effective accent that this can give a card.
I hope that you enjoyed my take on this week’s challenge. I can’t wait to see everyone’s entries.
