Hello lovely blog readers and thank you so much for popping by to read my blog today.
Today I am taking part in an awesome blog hop with the amazing Ink + Inspiration crew & I am really excited that today we are sharing some of our favourite and most exciting techniques with you.
This is a blog hop that you just won’t want to miss, so be sure to see below for all the blog links – you will get many ideas!
Today I have decided to use one of my favourite bundles in the new Mini Catalogue – The Dressed To Impress Bundle. I just love the fun and girly accessories and the awesome sentiments.
The sentiment I have used on my card today, “Be as bold as your lipstick” is definitely a favourite – and I don’t even really wear lipstick!
I am also featuring one of my fave techniques and that is watercolouring & a bit of Stampin’ Blends to colour my fun images!
To create this card I followed these steps:
- Cut a card base from Whisper White to your standard card base.
- Cut a layer 1/8” smaller from Basic Black to adhere to the Whisper White base.
- Cut a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock to 1/8” smaller than your previous layer of Whisper White.
- Taking your piece of Shimmery White Cardstock, take an Aqua Painter and I like to wet my card where I want my ink to run/be first. I just give it a small layer of water. I have then taken my Flirty Flamingo, Lovely Lipstick and Pumpkin Pie inks and using the ink that is pressed up on top of the lid, I have used my Aqua Painter to carefully add some to where I have already placed the water on my cardstock. It will naturally run and blend at this point. It is really important to use something like Shimmery White Card or Watercolour Card for this technique, as it will be able to withstand the water.
I personally like to heat set mine dry, as I love the harsh lines you get drying it this way, however you could let it dry naturally! Once dry, I have then sprayed some water into my hand using a Stampin’ Spritzer and then ‘flicked’ this over the card. Because our ink is water based, adding water will actually remove the colour from where this water lands. That is what you can see in the picture, where you have those splotches. Once this piece dries, I have then tapped my Wink Of Stella pen over the top for some more glitz! - Take your dry watercoloured piece and adhere this to your layer of Basic Black. Now adhere you Basic Black piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the card base.
- I have now on a scrap of Thick Whisper White Cardstock stamped my lipstick image from the Dressed to Impress stamp set five times. I have then coloured these with Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Flirty Flamingo and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. I personally like to add my dark Stampin’ Blend first and then blend it all out with my light Stampin’ Blend in the same colour. I have then die cut these images and adhered them to my card as shown, with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- I have then taken a small scrap of Basic Black cardstock and stamped my sentiment with Versamark ink and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. I have then trimmed around this sentiment and matted it with some Gold Foil. I have added this to the centre of my card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Finally to embellish I have added some Peaceful Poppies Sequins in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes over the card. I did add quite a few!
- To decorate the inside of the card, I have added a layer of Basic Black and Whisper White Cardstock and a small strip of the Best Dressed 6×6 Designer Series Paper. I also fussy cut out one of the lipsticks from the paper and adhered this to the inside – and lastly a FABULOUS sentiment with Memento ink.
You can see all the fabulous and talented paper crafters that took place in this blog hop here:
Here you can see a close up of the finished card and all the details.
I just love how those Peaceful Poppies sequins really accented the colours I had chosen with my watercolouring.
Here’s a look at the finished inside. A bit of lippy fun!
I hope you got some inspiration with the card that I have shared today, and are keen to go and do some watercolouring and use those Stampin’ Blends.

Happy crafting! xx
