Timeless Tropical - Watercolored Pineapples - Kayla Renee, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Hello and welcome back to my little blog today.

I do apologise for my short absence, I took some time off work and some time away from the internet and blogging, as I was feeling a touch worn out with some stressful things going on at the moment.

Do you know what the best thing to do when you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed? Take time to craft of course!

That is exactly what I did.

Today’s post was inspired by the lovely Lauren Alarid from the lovely Crafty Little Peach blog.

She made these GORGEOUS watercolored pineapples, and I just had to CASE those.

Those that know me well will know that pineapples are totally up my alley! I have them all over my house. These gorgeous pineapples from the lovely Timeless Tropical bundle (linked below) are just to die for! I can see myself using them over and over again!

Here’s a look at the finished card where you can see just how gorgeous those pineapples look watercolored.

I have cut my pineapple from our fabulous Fluid 100 Watercolour paper and then coloured it with a mixture of Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point inks with one of our FAB Aqua Painters.

They are so easy and so much fun to use.

All I did was add some water to my pineapple first and then catch some of the ink from the lid of the ink pad and add it on with the Aqua Painter.

I found it best to work in sections and allow each colour to dry slightly before moving onto the next. I didn’t let it dry completely however, to allow for easier blending.

When I really wanted a rich and bright colour, I actually added some drops of ink using the ink refill (such as with the Pineapple Punch) to the lid of the ink pad and picked up the colour that way.

It really allows for some rich and vibrant colours.

As you can see, I got a bit carried away and made three pineapples and cards because I just fell in love. Thanks Lauren 😉 Haha!

You can see how rich and vibrant the colours are.

I have added the ‘aloha’ die cut from Gold Glimmer Cardstock.

I have embellished with a simple Linen Thread bow with one of the die cut flowers from the coordinating dies. I have then finished the little flower with the gorgeous Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

I have then sprinkled some Clear Wink of Stella for some sparkle and shine!

As you can see from this close up I have also added a layer created with the Nested Stitched Labels for the pineapple to sit on and raised this up on dimensionals.

I have also added the Subtle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to the back layer of the card. I love this embossing folder, it is just so versatile.

Of course I added a couple of layers to the inside and some of the gorgeous coordinating stamps.
