Happy Monday everyone! It’s a new week and challenge at Global Design Project and it’s back around the a theme challenge where it’s all about the great outdoors! I decided to take it to be more about the foliage and beautiful nature that is around! At the moment we are entering Spring here in the South Pacific but I live in the colder part of Australia so it’s still not quite full of flowers and blossoms! I was keen to have a go at playing with some emboss resist colouring with a super easy technique that makes adding colour and embossing a breeze.

THE FINISHED CARD
Here is a look at my finished card. Can you tell I love blues/greens? I love that Stampin’ Up! reintroduced both Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon in the last colour refresh – they are two of my absolute favourites! I decided to use a bundle that had been sitting in my stash uninked. Don’t you love it when inspiration strikes and you finally get to put ink to rubber with that stamp sitting on your shelf? The beautiful Inked & Tiled stamp is gorgeous and so organic in design. I decided that I wanted to try an emboss resist colouring technique with this stamp which is so easy! It’s as simple as embossing the design in your favourite embossing powder colour and then taking ink and a Blending Brush and colouring right over the top!
In this case I coloured right over the top in some soft Pool Party and Coastal Cabana Ink. The beautiful foliage doesn’t have matching dies so I simple took some snips and fussy cut the designs out. Don’t they look gorgeous?
I wanted a pop of colour so I also added a small flower coloured in Daffodil Delight.
the colours that inspired my card…
Here is a look at the colours that inspired the overall look of my card. I was inspired by the Designer Series Paper from the Inked Botanicals suite with the gorgeous Lost Lagoon design and then decided to add in some darker green with the beautiful Pretty Peacock. I added in Daffodil Delight for a small pop of colour!
A CLOSE UP LOOK AT THE EMBOSS RESIST COLOURING
Here is a look at the details and texture I added on my finished card.
The rectangle I used was from the Radiating Stitches dies which is actually from an earlier release from the Online Exclusives. I just love these rectangles, they are such great basics to have!
I have used a Blending Brush and added some Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock Ink to my rectangle to create an ombre style look.
Lastly I have embellished with some Rustic Metallic Adhesive Dots, some Natural Ribbon which I have frayed and a sentiment which I heat embossed in white on black which I took from the Layering Leaves stamp set.
A LOOK AT THE INSIDE – KEEP IT SIMPLE BUT PRETTY!
Here is a look at the inside of the card which I have kept simple with some blending with some Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock and I have added the same beautiful leaf stamped in Pretty Peacock.
I added some of the leftover Designer Series Paper to the bottom of the card.
I hope that you got some inspiration from today’s post.
