Fable Friends ~ Glad We’re Friends

Hello lovely people and welcome back!

Happy Wednesday – hump day!

Today I am sharing another fun card with you all, which uses one of my favourite stamp sets at the moment…Fable Friends!

This adorable squirrel comes in a set with a few other gorgeous critters like bunnies, ducks and more! It really is a must have set! I have been using these fun little images and had a lot of fun watercoloring them. I went back to the good ole’ methods of an Aqua Painter and our Classic Ink Pads.

This kind of colouring is such a classic and fun way to colour. You really can do so much with our beautiful ink pads.

Here’s a look at the finished card. 

To achieve this card I have followed these basic steps:

• Cut a card base from Sahara Sand Cardstock to a top folding portrait card. 
• Cut a layer of Basic Black Cardstock to 9.9cm x 14.3cm. Adhere this to your card base.
• Cut a layer of Thick Whisper White Cardstock to 9.7cm x 14.1cm and emboss this with the Subtle Embossing Folder. Adhere this your layer of Basic Black and then adhere this to your card base. 
•  Cut a large stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies and a large scalloped circle in basic black from the Layering Circles Dies. Adhere these together and then adhere some Burlap Ribbon before adhering the circle over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. 
• Spritz you card with some Clear Wink of Stella.
• Take a scrap piece of Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper and stamp the squirrel using Staz On Ink. I have coloured this squirrel in a mixture of colours including; Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Mango Melody and Lovely Lipstick. It’s important to go easy and add little bits of colour at a time and let each layer dry before adding more. Little bits at a time is the best way to watercolour. You can add more, but you can’t get rid of it! 
• When the squirrel is dried, fussy cut this out and adhere to your card where shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals. 
• From the So Very Vellum paper in the soft blue, punch some leaves with the Leaf Punch and tuck these in where shown using Glue Dots or your choice of adhesive. 
• Heat emboss the sentiment using Versamark and heat embossing in white. Trim this down and add to the card where shown.  I have adhered this with Glue Dots. 
• Add a Whisper White Baker’s Twine bow and adhere to the card with a Glue Dot.
• Add some Basic Rhinestones around the card where shown. I have added three.  Lastly to decorate I have added a little bit of Wink of Stella to the flower that the squirrel is holding.
• Decorate the inside layers of the card if you wish to. See image below.
• Enjoy!

I am loving watercoloring fun images at the moment and making them very real and fun!

I love the softness that the beautiful So Very Vellum adds to a card also. You can add a little bit of colour and texture, without it being overwhelming.
