Leave a Little Sparkle ~ Black Sponged Card

Hello lovelies, happy Saturday!

Today I am excited to share with you a card that I wanted to make that was actually inspired by my gorgeous little niece who is seven.

She loves all things girly, unicorns and mermaids!

I live in a house full of boys so it is nice to do some girly things sometimes!

I made this card using the beautiful Leave a Little Sparkle stamp set which is a stunning set with some unicorns and fun girly things!

I was inspired to create this card of a similar technique I saw over on Pinterest.

Here’s a look at the finished card where you can see how it all comes together.

It’s a hard one to photograph, I will tell you that – but I think you get an idea of how it came together.

There is a couple of steps to this technique (wish I had taken photos while I was making it!)

Step 1) Take a piece of Whisper White cardstock and sponge it with a selection of colours that you wish to show through on your final image – I have used Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Flirty Flamingo and Gorgeous Grape. You could use Stampin’ Sponges, Sponge Daubers or Oval Makeup Brushes (which is what I use).

Step 2) Take the image you wish to use and stamp with Versamark and heat emboss with CLEAR embossing powder.

Step 3) Take a Stampin’ Sponge or Sponge Brayer or other sponge (I use oval makeup sponges) and then sponge Memento Black Ink over the entire piece. Make sure you get really good coverage.

Step 4) Take a dry piece of paper towel or wipe and ‘buff’ over the top which will remove any excess ink from over the top of the stamped image and let the colours really shine through.

I have then cut a thin strip of the Best Dressed 6×6 Designer Series Paper for the side which I have also placed a piece of the Purple Posy Scalloped Edge ribbon. I have then also added some Linen Thread around the edge of this piece before adhering down.

I have then mounted this entire piece on Stampin’ Dimensionals onto my card base.

Here is a close up of the finished card where you can see that beautiful unicorn shine through.

To embellish I have heat embossed a sentiment from the Leave a Little Sparkle set in white and fussy cut around this. I have then adhered to the card with the mini black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I have then added some of the From My Heart Faceted Gems in clear.

I have also added a die cut Melon Mambo Flower from the In The Tropics Dies.

I have also added some Wink of Stella Spritzing! Of course!

Here’s a look at the inside of my card where I have added layers of Basic Black and Whisper White and some stamping in Melon Mambo and Memento Black from the stamp set. I also added some Wink of Stella.

I hope my card today gave you some inspiration to try something new and give this stamp set a go, as it’s amazing!!! Perfect for girls of all ages!
