I have been participating in a chain card swap for the past few months. It’s a fun activity where you make a card and send it along a chain of participants. Each person copies and edits the card before passing it on until it returns to the original sender, often looking quite different.
For round six of this blog hop series, I created a Spotlight on Nature card inspired by Sharni’s card chain and the version of Sharni’s card created by Annette. I created this card shortly after receiving these products from the latest Annual Catalogue. I was so inspired by the Full of Life Designer Series Paper and Spotlight on Nature bundle. The colours are so rich and inviting. See the end of this post to see everyone’s version of this card.
my spotlight on nature card
I won’t lie, Pretty Peacock is one of my favourite colours! I wanted to add a ribbon to match the Pretty Peacock card base, so I added some Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends to colour this beautiful white ribbon. The richness of the Pretty Peacock mixed with the greens, pink and yellow of the flowers and butterflies felt so rich and inviting. To add colour to my images, I have heat embossed them in gold and used Water Painters to add colour to my images, softly blending the colours.
look at the details and watercolouring
To embellish I have added a picture of the Brushed Brass Butterflies and some gorgeous In Colour Shimmer Gems. I love these beautiful gems and they are so sparkly!
I loved the design of this card in the chain which featured three squares turned into a diamond fashion. To change it up I added a row of three circles to also use the coordinating Spotlight on Nature dies. These dies are AMAZING and should be in everyone’s crafting kit!
a little look at the inside of the card
To decorate the inside of the card, I added some basic stamping and colouring using a mixture of Pretty Peacock and greens with some of my favourite ink splattering.
This was a fun card to make and I really enjoyed seeing the progression of the card throughout the chain.
You can see the whole ‘chain’ of card in the series and how the card has evolved below.
I suggest following it in order from number one onwards to see the true progression of the card.
Until next time, crafty hugs. xx
